We've thought about how much we might like chrome details around the fenders, but chrome is NOT an accent for plastic. It is an accent for metal.
Chrome started as an accent for metals. Turns out most came from South Africa... So when all the divestement stuff came about (80s?), chromium was in short supply. Most that you see now is really plastic, with a dielectric multlayer coating, covered by a clear-coat!
So now, it fake chrome is an accent for fake metal!
And yeah, the fender thingies are pretty bad... Not my stile at all. But if they were thicker and more noticable.....
I read this thread directly after reading another about theft deterence. I think the "woody" decals, combined with the theft deterent key, might just do the job.
Yes, the Moss trim piece is funny on the surface. But think of that poor MINI they used to "model" that piece. He/she is HUMILIATED! I'm thinking of starting a MINI rescue. The car will be confiscated, returned to proper MINI-ness, and set free in the wild!
