I finally placed my order for my Cooper S. I got my production # and went online to register myself at the Owner's Lounge. I had a question about this process. Right now the website tells me that my car is on order. It doesn't give me an estimated build date, though. I was curious as to when I would receive such a date. I also wanted to know how long it has taken people to go from "On Order" to "scheduled for production." Thanks. I know this is going to be one long nerve-testing waiting.

Congradulations!!!! I ordered mine in early june and it went from ON ORDER to SCHEDULED FOR PRODUCTION in about 2 weeks. You get a VIN and estimated build date when it goes to Scheduled for production. It's not even the end of July and my MINI is already being made right now! It's being painted today. If you want more accurate and detailed info about where your mini is at, call 1-866-ASK-MINI and give them your production number. they're very nice. Good luck!

Probably b/c of the lack of Xenons...If you opt not to have them, they'll probably build yours right away!

The Xenons are brighter lights that replace the regular bulb lights.

I orderd my 'S' In the 13th of July. The dealer put the order in on the 15th (the following Monday), I phoned up for my production number on the 18th and by that time I had an "On Order" status, and a production date of 8/2/02. I did not have a VIN number until the car went into production a few days later.

TminiS-

Thanks. I'm looking forward to tracking the construction of my Mini. I have to say that the Owners Lounge is a little more barren than I expected. Thanks for the phone number. I'll definately use it once production starts so I can find out the specifics of what is going on with my Mini. How long are people waiting to get their Mini once production starts? 3 months?

My MINI showed as "Schedule for Production - July 19" on July 6. It was completed July 15, missed the first available boat (Otello) on7/19, was loaded onto the vessel (Aquarius Leader) 7/25, and is due at Port Hueneme on 8/19. So it's about 6 weeks after production than you can guestimate delivery. Shorter if you're on the East Coast.

Cheers!

Cool. I've heard so many horror stories of long waits that 6 weeks is faster than I was expecting. And, luckily, I live on the east coast so my Mini doesn't have to travel that far to get to me.
