R50/53 @)(&$(^%(^&W%@(@#_)! My MINI's Wrecked!
Hope you went and got checked out medically, and pay attention to any aches and pains that might develop over the next few days. Often whiplash-type stuff takes a little while to manifest itself.
Good luck with the car repair! Doesn't look TOO bad.

Man! You've had some bad luck in that thing, the hit & run, now this. Sorry to hear. That's Tampa for you. I've lived half my life over hear in Pinellas County, but there were two years that I lived over in Tampa and let me tell you the drivers over there REALLY suck. Yeah, we've got our share of retirees over here, but they drive nothing like the madmen in Tampa.
I sympathize! Blanche was rear-ended earlier this month. Just got her back last week and she's looking better than ever!
What's the deal with so many pepper whites getting slammed lately? I think we should form a support group.
In fact, I'm going to start the thread right now! Look out for it...

Bummer about the wrecked MINI! I hope you get it back soon!
Nice MINI except for the aftermarket wrinkles in the metalwork. I like the black pinstripe down the side and the MINI Cooper in a wreath on the back. The boot stripes look slick too. Get your coop back soon!

Dear sir/maam,
I would like to express my deepest condolences for the loss of your son/husband/brother/father/MINI and tell you he/it went down doing what he/it loved. He/it went down bravely and will be remembered forever by his/its squadmates/men/passengers.
Our deepest sympathies to you at this mournful time,
Washington Irving

Thanks everybody. I know its just sheet metal, but it sure bums you out. Just hope that they can put her back together as good as new. I have to wait for the insurance adjuster to determine if it was their insured's fault (duh!) and to inspect the car. I don't have any idea how bad it is. I'm a little stiff and tender today.
I think the MINI came out better than it would have normally, as I saw the joker in my rearview and had enough space between me and the car in front to actually start to move forward. Therefore, I wasn't at a dead stop when the impact occurred. Maybe that accounts for the less severe looking rear damage where he hit. It looks like most of the inertia got transferred to the front end for absorption. I have had the rear impact beam off while I test fitted my trailer hitch Wednesday and its a pretty solidly constructed piece of crunchable aluminum beam and absobent foam.
Surprisingly no airbag deployed!?? I thought that the decelleration when I was pushed into the car in front of me would've triggered the front bags? Curious?
I think they'll have to repair the seat back mechanism as there was a lot of wobble in it from the strain of the impact & me being thrown against it.
What's really funny? Not one broken piece of glass or plastic? Front or back? Not even the driving lights on the grill. Strange? What are the chances of that?
All I can say is I'd buy another mINI and am very impressed with its ability to handle an impact with a vejicle of such disparate size.

I'm really sorry to hear about your incident and MINI!!!!
stupid inattentive drivers!!!
I'm glad you are ok, and once again this is another story about how well built MINIs are and how well they protect in crashes.
BTW, I really like your color combo, and in particular how you have brought the balck stripes down tyhe back. Do they go across the roof too?
All the best, and I hope you get your MINI back soon!

Hmmmm. Maybe I should have a military convoy motor with me when I am in my PW/B. Seems that people have it out for us.......... cause we are so cool!
Seriously though, glad you are ok. Hope everything works out soon for you.

Minimad, once again, thats just awful, but I'm sure he/she'll be fixed up as good as new in no time!
I have a question for you or anyone else who knows... where did you get that Mini Cooper emblem on the rear right side of the car? It looks great!
Thanks,
~Joe

The boot stripes are only on the boot. The roof is black w/sunroof. There I have added white solid checks.
The Cooper laurels (8 UKP/pair) were purchased with the roof checks (55 UKP) from Idle Gear in the UK. The laurels are available from suppliers on this site as well as MiniMania, MiniSport and DJ Minis in Ocala (djminis.com) as are the John Cooper signature decals on the bonnet stripes. But they cost double.
