1st Service covered under warranty?

I have a 2003 MCS with about 26,000 miles. My countdown service odometer is under 1000 miles. I was just wondering if my 1st Service be covered under warrant even though my 36 month warranty just expired last month. If it is not covered, is it really worth the cost or should I just change the oil and reset the countdown odometer myself? Thanks.

Your 3 year/36K mile scheduled service coverage, expires by either time or mileage, whichever comes first.

I suggest calling MINIUSA 1-866-ASK-MINI and with your VIN number on hand, double check and see if your car is still covered by the scheduled maintenance program.

If it isn't, then my best suggestion to you is to try to contact other MINI owners in your immediate area here in NAM, to receive recommendations about independent garages with established reputations for quality work performed on MINIs.

If you are mechanically oriented, changing the oil yourself should not be a problem. Don't forget to check your brake pads and other components when you jack up the car.

Good luck and let us know what you find out from MINIUSA in regards to the scheduled maintenance coverage and see if it still applies to your car.

PS: You said you car has 26K miles...... This should be the SECOND scheduled service stop not the first. The first should have taken place at 10K miles. I really hope you are not just know getting around to change the original oil and filter that came with the car from factory...OUCH!

Also, so you don't get confused, the bumper to bumper warranty in the MINI is 4 years/50K miles whichever comes first.

Your MINI is still covered under the terms of the limited warranty, but it may not be covered by the 3/36K scheduled service coverage.

Ya, the 4yr/50,000 mile warranty is the one that confused me. Sounds like my scheduled service will be out-of-pocket, but I'll call to make sure. I've changed oil every 4,000 miles so that should be good to go. Thanks for your input. WMS is an option for service, and it's only 10 minutes away, but I've been reading recent threads about WMS and it doesn't sound proming
