R50/53 headlight adjustment: V1 and V2?
headlight adjustment: V1 and V2?
can anybody shed some light on the particulars of what each adjustment does? i'm used to a horizontal and a vertical adjustement screw, but here i've got V1 and V2. do you raise them with clockwise or counterclockwise turns (as viewed from the inside bottom of the bonnet)?

If it's like the '04, the one on the side is the horizontal adjustment, the one on the bottom (top? I can't remember, it's been a while) is vertical.
On mine, a small change made a big difference. Just use 1/8 turn increments so you can get it back to the original position if needed.

thanks, but as stated, mine is an '06. the headlights are different from your '04. there is not one on top and one on the side. there are two adjustments on each headlamp assembly, on each side of the housing, marked V1 and V2.
surely i'm not the first person to adjust their own headlights?

The INBOARD screw controls elevation. Loosen it to raise the light pattern. You'll have to experiment with the other one to see which way does what. The elevation screw is VERY sensitive. 1/4 to 1/2 turn does a LOT.
Mine's an '05, so it has the same lights as your '06.
