I've found it fascinating, thanks to some nice articles in MC2 by Graham Robson, to learn that John and Mike Cooper actually made some very meaningful suggestions for the present MINI based on their early test drives.

Interestingly, John Cooper passed away the same year the Classic Mini ended production (2000).
