iPod problems
I have had my mini for a bit over two weeks now and am surprised to find that the ipod(also new) or ipod connection are broken. When i plug the ipd in it shows the mini home screen and seems to be working fine, but when i switch it over to the cd mode(no cd in) it gives me no sound. Any Explanations...please:impatient!

If the dealer did the adaptor installation, I suggest you taking it back to them and let them deal with it under warranty.
Like I said you could have problems either with the adaptor itself, the wire installation, the iPod itself or all of the above.
In the iPod make sure you have the "Sound Check" option turned off under the "Settings" menu.
I have owned my iPod adaptor for a year and a half with no problems. I currently use it with a 4GB black iPod Nano. It rocks!
*VERY IMPORTANT*
I forgot to mention a key setting! Make sure that you have created five playlists in iTunes labeled "MINI1", "MINI2", "MINI3" and so on and so forth. Here is why.....
The iPod adaptor requires your song files to be arranged into 5 playlists for the adaptor to be able to upload and play the songs thru the stereo system. Each memory preset key in the radio becomes a "Playlist". For example, preset key #1 will be playlist "MINI1" and so on.
It doesn't matter that you have 15,000 songs loaded into the iPod, because if you fail to create the playlists the adaptor simply doesn't know where to look for your song files and therefore it won't play at all.
Try this and let me know.

Perhaps a dumb question (I'm still waiting for our Mini). If I wanted to shuffle the songs, how would that work with creating playlists? Put all the songs I want to shuffle in one list, and something token in the other four?

Hope this helps.

video ipod has full functionality!
Yes.
Full function. Passenger can watch a video while you listen to it, if you want. However, you have to control the ipod through the ipod itself. Just push the menu buttons a couple of times until the screen comes up and go from there. Promise. It's not just mine, but my husband's too. Spread the word - no more being stuck to the MINI playlists!

I was just fiddling around in my car and pushed the "menu" pad on my ipod a couple of times - and my ipod screen came up. My husband says he has to do it right after he plugs it in or turns the car on, but I've never had to. I can skip forwards and go backwards with the steering wheel, but can't change playlists or anything like that. What I've basically done is made a HUGE playlist with all my favorite songs, but sometimes when I like to change genres, I'll just pull it out of my box while I'm at light and change my tunes.
