R50/53 VW advertisment in latest auto week
Iwas thinking the same thing about the 'harlequin' version . . .then my wife chimed in and pointed out the rabbits (the animal) are often mixed colors (black, white, grey). It makes sense when you see all the cars lurching forward sort of how rabbits ambulate.

I wonder if they will make another Harlequin edition? Those sure were silly!
Here's a pic for those tht haven't seen one before

you all obviusly arent mkt folk. ideas are recycled all the time. just because a company uses the same vessel for delivery doesnt mean a copy. you think mini was the first company to use " stickers" in advertisements to get their message across. plus we are all biased because we are MINI owners. but the reality is there are a LOT more veedub owners than mini owners around.

Yours is a bit . . . uh . . . "overly compensating."
No one here claims MINI ownership outnumbers VW.

I ran across another VW ad reminiscent of MINI ads in one of the last ESPN magazines (it had John Daly on the front). As an insert, there was a "Backseat Driver's Manual" that looked and was worded a lot like what MINI ads were. There is even a plastic "Backseat Driver's License" in the back of the manual that you can remove and glue a picture to. I thought it was pretty cool (I ended up keeping it
).

The mixed color ones are cross breeds. Oh and they are for the ads only
I just opened my AutoWeek. This ad is LAME! The vinyl "stickers" aren't amusing, in general. But what annoys me is: howtheythinkrunningthewordstogetheriscool. (and I see the small print at bottom, and it took more time to grey the alternating words than to use the space bar).
Yes I'm biased.
Yes I'm biased.
I found the new Rabbit ads on TV humorous, and I thought done with a Mini "feel" to it. Of course representing the Rabbit in such large numbers makes me NOT want to buy a car that it seems everyone else will have!
I love the new VW rabbit ads that have been running.
They truly grabbed the essence of the rabbit (animal) in the ad. I love the harlequin rabbit that hides. Very clever and well done...it definitely gives you a feeling of rabbits multiplying, especially the use of only 3 colours.
I too work in advertising/graphic design. As much as a I love the type treatment in the print ads, it isn't exactly the easiest thing to read and comprehend. The GTI DVD you get from the dealer has an entire booklet that is typeset that way. Granted they want to bring in new customers but part of the reason for bringing back the rabbit and launching the GTI first is to regain the customers they've lost along the way when the company effectively lost the plot. I would guess that original GTI & rabbit customers are pushing 40 - 50 and reading advertising & brochures that are typeset that way might be a bit annoying to those folks.
