i get teased

alot of guys my age (mostly the honda and nissan tuners) pull up next to me and tease me that i drive a mini i laugh and roll w/ their comments till the light turns green then i get to tease them about the fact they dumped thousands into their car and my stock mcs just roasted their car off the line... i was curious if any other young males(18 - 23 ) experience this also

Don't need to be younger... I'm 28 and still get similar responses. They really just don't know... Mini gets mad and starts fuming at the tires. =)

Now how did I know you were a young male (18-23) ???

Welcome to NAM, details about your car, please?

Annette

PS. as posted before, young males are some of my favorite people, I even keep one here at home (my son, so much fun to aggravate!)

27 here, luckily i live in a neighbourhood of 5 additional MINIs within 3 city block radius and very nice people otherwise, but my friends live in places where there are more modified melon shooters than houses. So I do feel your pain when Civics and Maximas pull up to the side of me cracking their cheesey one-line comments. Rarely the occasion arises where I have to leave them in my dust. I refrain just knowing that my stock MINI will eat them alive. For that, I am a proud MINI owner

I have bogey stickers on my door; happens at every single light I pull up to, I smile nod and just before the light turns green; freaks them out! then I calmly head off down the road. There is no need to think you have anything to prove or show off about, if you know how happy you are to turn the engine over each day then it doesn't matter what the rest of the world thinks.

I'm a male 19. I get challenged by other teens, all the up to 50+yrs. old in everything from a Ferrari (360) to a Civic whos exhaust is hanging on by a coat hanger; I act the same smile nod and wink, if I'm lucky I'lll see them at the next track day.

And uhh I know that this is a thread about good driving choices and how not to be a victim so please don't describe and maybe even edit the roasted bit so we can keeo this thread going I know some good advice will show up, it has in similar threads in the past.

I think the mini is now known as a quick car in Australia....I get nothing but stares, good comments etc...most people who know cars know the mini is a decent ride...

Ignorance is bliss... Don't let the haters get you down, they don't know any better, and they have fat moms.

I've gotten teased by friends about my MCS (I'm 33). My response is to let them take it for a spin. After that, they stop teasing.

I had a kid driving a beat up 92 civic sedan ask if he wanted to race... with the boost gauges mounted on his pillar, you kinda have to wonder if he had some power behind his swaggar...

well i declined and sure enough the boy sped off showing his boost along with a cloud of burning oil fumes coming out of his exhaust. The difference is my car isnt going to blow up around the corner :O)

I really cant be bothered...

Then you have a similar crowd with kids (assuming parents buying the kids M3's) trying to show they have something to prove. They may have more expensive cars, but they are still kids. Both are laughable and waiting for an accident to happen. No thanks... motoring is something these people wont appreciate for a long while.

I hate going down the main drag here to and from work, as everybody thinks they should be going faster than me, and it is too crowded for even within-the-law spirited driving, much less some sort of stupid drag race. I turn off of the main drag at my earliest opportunity and get to the twisties!

I emailed a friend of mine the pictures of the Mini on the trailer. My friend posted the pictures on the Diesel truck web site I am member of...it was brutal. The title of the post was guess what member bought a Mini and it turned into a bashing thread.....but it all was in good fun.

FWIW we have a GMC Duramax Diesel and it is turned up with goodies with some badges on the door. We live in Diesel truck country and we get challenged all the time. We have had trucks go by with their thumbs hanging down outside the window. So it is not just the Rice Burners that are dumb a$$es nor is it your age, I am going to be 36 and driving a pick-up truck.

Until the testosterone of the body runs out, someone out there will not know how to conduct themselves properly at some point. Some learn while others keep acting stupid. Just call me Doc. Phil.....maybe not!!!

Wait until it's a guy driving a PT Cruiser! I don't know what it is, I get this all the time and I'm not even close to anyone you'd look at and think I'm going to race. It cracks me up. I just laugh and let them have their way because I know what these cars can do!

I'm 21 and yet my MINI costs more then my friends Japanese and 1 Euro cars and still screams past theirs. I love my car and I am happy and thats all I care about

Nothing to do with racing but just pure motoring fun.

DAMN it feels good to own a MINI! Great reference, shankrabbit!

I get this, too. I'm 25 but could pass for younger, and people give looks, try to race, etc... What I notice most, though, is that people don't want to be passed by the mini. Too bad for them.

I hate PT Cruisers, but the funny things is that PT owners have been the most cordial and enjoyable people to chat me up about my MINI.

I am 31 and I look under 25ish. I don't really get the looks and if I do I don't notice them. If some ricer pulls up next to me I don't even look at that noise and I just go on with my day.

I don't care how fast their rice rocket is... they are freakin' hondas and they are ugly.

I will never let some tuner in a P.O.S. with a Fart Cannon and a whale tail laugh at me. I'd rather ride a pink huffy than some nissan sentra or ford focus with spinner hubcaps and some tuner decals!

Those guys(?) are sooo lame, I can't believe they have the ***** to laugh at anything else.

Not to worry it's not a youth thing I'm 51 going on 19 & I have more fun serving up today's special "smoked" WRX, STX neon, Honda anything surprise with 1 or 2 Boxters thrown in for spice. It might just be the opposite of what your seeing in as much as I'm a gray hair so they think he can't be fast, but whatever I'm serving it must be filling because no one comes back for seconds check out my gallery pics let me know what you think
