I'm a new owner of an '06 MCS JCW and am curious why Mini offers a motor oil carrying case as an accessory. This is a first for me. Should I expect heavier than normal oil comsumption?

And the MINI motor oil is alleged to be special (as compared to lesser brands of oil). The motor oil carrying case is meant to re-inforce the "specialness" of the MINI oil so you can carry some along with you should you feel the need to top-off the oil level.

 

My $0.02 - They make a case because there's a boot, but no real trunk that you can throw a quart of oil in, just in case. It also velcros down so the oil doesn't get launched to and fro.
I bought one when I got the MINI, since I had a 3K trip home and would rather have and not need than need and not have.
Hasn't used a drop (as far as I can tell on the impossible to read dipstick in 14K miles. (two oil changes though - one per the service counter, and one extra - 15K changes? No way.)
