Well I went out to dinner this weekend and the Valet service parked my Mini S right in front. The Valet guys told me allot of people complimented the car. Then on sunday I got routed on a detour yesterday becuase of a Parade. You should have seen all the people waving and staring at the car. Well then Again it was a St Paddy's day Parade and they might have been drinking.

I dropped off our other car for service and while getting the paperwork sorted a salesmen came up to my wife (and kids ) in the MINI. He says:
[cheesy pickup line] "Hey this car is pretty hot...and so are you. [/cheesy pickup line]
She laughed and our three year old says "Yeah, it's a red MINI!! It's fast!"

I had my first major MINI experience last Saturday. Someone waited for me and my husband to get out of the car in a parking lot and approached us with questions. The man asked me question after question - asked to sit in it, asked to look under the bonnet, etc. He works at our Nissan plant nearby and was commenting on the different parts under the bonnet... checking their quality. He was very impressed. I ended up giving him a card of our motoring advisor. Sounds like he has MINIitis bad.

I admire the comments from the Toll booth operators. they always seem to comment on how "Cute" it is. Even one guy said "hey when do I get my car back" like it was his.(threw me off at first). They must see HUNDREDS of cars a day, and for one of them to say something, that's got to be good.

I have gotten a couple of stares and grins, most recently from two local fast fooders (6-8 people press their noses to the glass to see the cool car in the drive-up).
What's weird is that the last couple of questions I have gotten were 'Where did you get that?' questions... The first one caught me so off guard I answered, "Here, in the US." Like they wouldn't have known that, right?
Strange reactions - I had a Mitsu spyder tuner gun it next to me to get my attention, then wanted to race. At the light I watched him shoot away from the light as I motored on. I took THAT as a compliment as well...

It's truly amazing how this car seems to always put a smile on people's faces and the interest and curiosity is still there although the car has been out over a year. I got mine last spring and relinquished it to my son when he recently turned 16. I'm waiting for the John Cooper Works versions to hit the U.S.

I was walking from the train to the parking lot one day to get into my MINI. There was two women in front of me and one said to the other "That's the cutest car!!" I smiled as I unlocked it and got in with the women staring.
I love this car and the way it seems to make people smile... Another time I was driving home from school in Philadelphia and I was in a line of cars at a stop sign right by the Philadelphia Boys Choir. They must have just gotten out and I heard the one kid say "Oh man, that's the car that I want!" While pointing at my MINI with a huge smile on his face.
I have others but those are my two favorite.

Just picked up MINIhune last night and went to see our insurance agent today. As I walked into the office, all 4 ladies asked " Is she here yet?"
With a big smile I replied "yes!" and they all ran out to the parking lot leaving the office empty.
We circled around MINIhune and the phrase "cute car" kept coming up

Split second - non-verbal >> Yesterday, several miles away from downtown Chicago on I55, driving in the FAST lane, I spied three little ballcaps (no doubt CUBS fans) in the backseat of a black BMW 300series. Apparently, the driver Dad who had noticed my MINI approaching on the left, was telling the three kids and gesturing my direction. They all turned their heads at the same time and stared and grinned. I gave them a big smile and thumbs up! Kewl Kids ..

Small incident, yet gratifying...I was on a side street ready to make a right turn when another car (w/ female driver) made a left onto my street. As her car crossed my path, she caught sight of my Cooper...and her entire face lit up in delight! I saw the whole thing. I'm glad she was happy...its so nice to spread the joy around!

I have to say that I have had so many instances of kids and parents with kids that point and stare and smile and gawk that I can't even remember most of them!
I love making kids smile! It's pretty cool making adults smile too!
All in all, I think the non-verbal ones speak the loudest. ...The guy that almost cuts you off because he whipped his head around so fast just to look at your car. ...The lady who almost trips over a curb because she was looking over her shoulder at your car. ...The people who excitedly point. ...The same people who have to grab the person beside them to get their attention!
Ain't life grand in a MINI?

I went to school in a Caribbean country which was under British for quite some time, so I understand what you mean. I have to admit I am a grammar freak as well. Some things I just expect everyone to know.
