That was a prototype MINI that made the rounds back in the 2002 autoshow circuit. That's just a press pic from back then.

A hydrogen MINI is a bit impractical at this time. To start with, how would you refill it? Talk about being tethered (to a fuel source). But if you want to go part of the way, you could consider a LNG/LPG conversion. A LNG/LPG conversion still has the issue of where to put the fuel tank, but fuel is available at many service stations and the price is generally less than a gasoline equivalent. Plus, the octane rating is somewhere north of 105....

Hydrogen is totally impractical and uneconomic. Fuel has to be consumed to make it. You are off better directly using that fuel instead of wasting much of it to make hydrogen. Read here for details: http://www.alwayson-network.com/comm...=15059_0_4_0_C

LNG/LPG does make sense. I traveled in Argentina a year ago and they had LNG/LPG available at most every service station. Most vehicles had an extra tank in the trunk to hold the LNG/LPG and a switch on the dash to select it or the gasoline tank.

World's first Lithium-powered Embassy vehicle...

The instant torque has got to be fun in an electric mini, but I wonder how much weight is gained after swapping out the motor, adding 600lbs ot batteries, and losing the radiator, exhaust, etc.
