While driving my other Mini (a Mini Van, that is) today on Isabel Rd in Livermore, CA, I spotted a Chili Red MCS with "33 EJB" over the hood scoop. I know that Newdl uses that as his signature, so I have a few questions:

1) Was that Newdl? I thought he was in OH.
2) If not Newdl, then who? (who stole the... oh, wait, sorry, wrong song)
3) What is the significance of "33 EJB"?

Take a look in the history section of the MINIUSA website; specifically the history behind the MC40 speical edition, which is what you saw. They have videos and such that explain it better than I can.

 

Wasn't that the licence plate number of Paddy Hopkirk's car that won the Monte Carlo rally?

I wish I coudl say that was me, but there are 1000 of us with the MC40 that came with 33 EJB on the hood.

gr8britwjh was close, I believe that was the call letters/numbers for the 1964 Mini Monte Carlo Winner. They were on the hood of that car, and as the 40th aniversary edition of the Monte Carlo Winner, they are on those 1000 special edition cars as well..... maybe this will help:
