More than likely, yes. whether or not you'll get an S, beats me. They'll have a variety of rental car companies at the airport.

You may be able to find a MINI at the rental agencies around the airports. Things to watch out for:

1) Plan on spending plenty on gas. On average, it is around $5 US currency a gallon. The Dollar-Euro exchange rate is not helping matters.

2) Make sure you understand the rental contract completely (just like with any other contract) and know exactly what their business hours are. If you happen to drop off the car when they are closed, gone to lunch, afternoon siesta, coffe break, soccer game is in town, etc. , you most likely will get charged extra for not handing over the keys directly. Happened to my mother-in-law when she came over to visit the wife and I.

3) Do not leave any valuables in plain site in your car at any time if possible. In town they have what is know as Vespa bandits, at a stop light kids on Mopeds that will drive down both sides of your vehicle and if you happen to have a rear door or window open, one of the kids will reach in or go through the rear compartment (from one rear door to the other depending on car) and take items before jumping onto the back of the Vespa waiting on the other side. Keep all doors locked when driving!

4) In general it is a very laid-back, fun, beautiful country. The only time Italians seem to be in hurry to do anything is when they get behind the wheel of a vehicle, then they all want to be Mario Andretti.

Enjoy the trip

Ciao!
