Cool!
Does anyone know if the classic "Italian Job" is out on DVD in this country yet? I think it was released in the UK, and I had heard that it was going to be re-released on DVD! I want one!

DVD hasn't been released yet in US. Check Amazon.com. They are pre-selling it. Can't wait!

>>Dealers will have the option of having a premier party. I've organized the BMW premier party's for the James Bond movies and it was a blast. The Italian Job movie is being released in the US 6/1/03.
Cool, my birthday is 6/3! Now I know what I wanna do for my birthday!!

I want to contact local theaters in the area and set up a big MINI outing to see the film on opening day. (don't know if the dealer will do it or not) Maybe the theater will throw in some popcorn along with a "MINI parking only" area. It's great PR for them too! Can't wait!
It will be screened several times in LA in April... to hand picked crowds...
Catch it if you can....
It's a Paramount Picture... Heard it was not too bad..
*I do costumes and special effects for films... such as this.... currently on the Fox Lot.*
Will "DIG" into paramount for more details...

>>does anyone know if a DVD coded for the Europena region will work in the US?
>>
>>I'm stopping through the UK next week, and thought maybe i'd pick it up...
A UK coded DVD will NOT work on US players. Your only option is:
Get a computer with a reasonably recent DVD drive.
Set the region code to UK.
Watch the DVD on your computer.
If you do this, be aware that you can only change the region of your dvd drive 5 times. It's hard-coded into the drives apparently. Very annoying.

Now that's an expensive DVD!!!
If you can play it on your computer, you might want to just transfer it over and make it a DIVX file. Then you can give it to a friend with a DVD burner (or yourself if you have one) and burn it straight to the DVD. You'll lose the special features, though. That way you wouldn't have to switch back and forth to watch the movie. Go to divx.com to get the divx player - I'm not sure if it works as a DIVX maker but maybe try tucows.com or download.com for that. And if you have a crossover cable it works great for transfering between computers.

On a related note, Ed Norton REFUSED a MINI...
This was on IMDB News - Norton's "Italian" Film Fury
Fight Club star Edward Norton is furious contractual obligations have forced him to star in a re-make of The Italian Job - a project he reportedly wants nothing to do with. Norton has apparently been making it clear on the set of the update of the classic British sixties movie that he is only appearing in the movie because he would be taken to court by film studio Paramount if he refused to do the film. The star signed a three-movie deal with Paramount early in his career but has only made one film for them, 1996's Primal Fear - but has been forced to accept this project after rejecting all offers for several years. Norton even returned a gift car the studio sent him on the first day of shooting of the mad-cap crime caper. He sent back the brand new Mini Cooper to Paramount's co-president of production with a note attached saying, "Why don't you give this to someone you like - or someone who likes you?"
