foggy tail lights

I have only had my Cooper for a few weeks, and enjoying it
tremendously.Today it was rainy and a cold front pushed through
and I noticed the covers over the tail lights had some condensation
in them is this common ?

well, no. this might mean that you have a leak in the silicone that is used to seal the taillights. however, looking at the design of the MINI tail lights, it is very possible that this may be one of those once in a while types of problem. My guess is that the temperature dropped rapidly enough to where the air inside the tail lamps didnt have a chance to adjust. if the problem persists, take it to the dealer, but you should be fine.

One of my taillights had similar symptoms when I first got the car. In my case it was definately a leak -- it showed up after the car was washed. I don't know whether the dealership replaced the lense or the gasket, but they took care of it under warranty.

I had condensation in my 06 MCS and the dealer replaced both under warranty. I had the car in for service for something else and when they pulled it out (it was pouring all day), I noticed it had condensation whereas all the cars parked near it did not.
