R50/53 The Ultimate MINI Fantasy Car
I'm swimming against the grain, as usual (and mixing metaphors, it appears).
a Cooper GP (not Cooper s works) - take the light weight stuff a few steps further - emulate Lotus with the Elise... no power windows and locks, make carpeting an option. Throw on all sorts of aluminum suspension pieces. Keep it front wheel drive, keep it under 150hp.

To re-work my previous request for "do more with less"...
Some sort of a club-sport package MINI, in both Cooper and S. All those parts that people take off the car when they "tune" it, don't bother putting them on the car in the first place. Or, just put the bare minimum on there if the part is necessary to make it a driveable car.
Like put on dirt cheap steel wheels with the knowledge that the buyer is just going to take them off an put something else on.
Sway bars? don't bother. At least with the rear. I guess not many people swap the front bar, but lots swap the rear. So just leave the rear bar off.
No stereo.
Then I guess it depends upon if you are going "tuner" or "race car" where to go from there. A/C? I'd buy a car with no A/C. Dirt cheap seats, as they'd get replaced for a race car / toy.
Porsche has had models like this, as have many others. Even Scion has announced a low volume model of the TC that takes this approach.
Oh yeah, I left off the important part...
Make this spec cheaper than the normal "base" model. After all, it's going to have less "stuff".

On topic, I'd like to see something alonog the lines of a street legal race car, something I can bring to the track for the day, then still go out on a date without having to switch vehicles.
J/K thats a neat trick with the angle though, didn't notice it before.
Everybody has different MINI fantasies...depends on your personal overall design program. It is an interesting topic as you really can do a lot w/ this car from mild to wild.
I'm driving my fantasy, I guess, because as I've rolled around the idea over and over of trading in, upgrading, whatever...I keep coming back to exactly what I have...a no-nonsense, basic, lightweight Cooper that'll still fetch 35 mpg or higher. Fuel economy is very much a part of the equation to me, as is traditional, fun, and cheeky MINI looks, that is very OEM and has a restrainted class (like me!!
). No street racer for yours truly...so an early Cooper is very "it" for me.

From factory they are pretty well covered with what you can pick and choose but ideally for me, i'd say, AWD, fairly larger supercharger with a front mount, no back seats, roll cage, and nice exhaust sytem. I'd want to be able to hear the supercharger scream as well as the exhaust.
