R50/53 GP rear seat deletion logic (or lack thereof)

18" JCW star spokes $2334
JCW sport Suspension $945 (and we all know that's for the parts only)
JCW Door Sills
JCW Carbon fiber Mirrors, Scoop, and spoiler
Grand total $36,090.... add in the Aero kit to compensate for extra bit of body kit on a GP, add $1250 plus installation...
So that's how I made a ballpark $38,000. Even if the GP was $1000 less than a built online JCW..still a bargain.

Do you suppose the Czechs are pissed they got the rear seats instead of the "an aluminum finished cargo brace bar."
BTW, where am I gonna get elastic cords w/ hooks big enough to wrap around that bar for securing my cargo? Didn't the MINI engineers think about this before they put it back there? I mean really.
Oh, while they are at it can I get the grocery bag holder in an aluminium finish also?

I dont think there's a credible reason for this car, period. At least the MC40 had something significantly historical as its primary reason-to-be. This car has nothing except a Soobie-ish wing, hideous wheels, and a neat chrome shower curtain rod in the back. Blah. A lot of money for a lot of nothing. I'm surprised it has a radio--if it indeed does. Jimbo

Exactly.
That would have been perfect. Instead we get "an aluminum finished cargo brace bar."
Exactly.

You're wrong about the pricing. The GP does have DSC, but no Xenon. It does have 18" Upgrade wheels, and aero kit, etc. The MSRP on a built car like this would exceed the 31,150 price tag by at least $5000.

hideous Hideous HIDEOUS... especially when one can't configure the GP the way one wishes--just like the MC40, another specialty flop.
No xenons, but DSC? Now, that's a true driver's car
And they're trying to shave weight, but adding an aero kit and those wheels? (oops wait they are 4-spoke, so they Have to be lighter, right?)
I have to admit tho I do like the darkened gauges....
Yet for a few thou more I could snag a gently used late 1990s NSX that's already taken its depreciation hit. It'd be a much more stylish stablemate for my MCS, more fun to drive, and just as exclusive--plus my Honda mechanic could work on it. JB

So, I must be missing something on the pricing:
Base S: $21,450
Sport Package: $1400
JCW Kit: $6300
JCW suspension: $1500 (installed)
Aluminum control arms: $200
----------------------------------
That comes out to: $30,850
Of course you're short 4hp, but you're also short Xenons and maybe a few other bits. So where does the other $5,000 come from?

I only laugh because, I don't understand why we all care what others think...it should be what you feel is cool and what you want to do

:impatientCraptabulous though it may be, it ain't my cup of tea... I like the ability to select my own options, and I'm not certainly not weight obsessed enough to forego Xenon headlights.

PS No flames please, I'm a member in good standing of Team Craptastic!
In nearly four years I haven't had one rear seat passenger (in fact, I've only had a front seat passenger once), but I've had plenty of other stuff in the back. I've never needed a rear seat and never wanted one, but I'm not the least bit interested in a traditional "2-seater." What I really want -- and all I need -- is a two-seat MINI.
On the other hand, I'm definitely underwhelmed by the GP.....don't like the wheels, don't like the body kit, REALLY don't like the price. And though I think you're a bit too obsessed, I have to agree about the "aluminum finished cargo brace bar".....but if I can remove the rear seats from my MC I'm sure you can remove the "aluminum finished cargo brace bar" from a GP.
