I have noticed when closing the bonnet on my MCS that the passenger side latch will latch itself with a gentle drop of the bonnet, while the driver side latch requires quite a bit of "slam" in order to latch. If I am not careful, I only get one side latched and I get to watch the bonnet bounce around when I try to drive away. I have heard from numerous sources that the MINI requires a good slam to lock the bonnet down, but with one latch grabing easy, and the other very hard, I am concerned that I may have an adjustment issue. Does anyone else have this same issue? I would expect both latches to grab with about the same closing force....

I have the same issue on my 06'. Dirvers side takes more persuasion to get it latched.
I stopped dropping the hood though. I set it down and give a gentle push on the hood above each latch. CAREFUL not to push in the wrong place!

My 04 MCS latches very easy - both sides. You might want to grease the stiff latch - see if it helps. If still under warranty I would have it checked at your next service. :impatient
