I have put my deposit down on an MCS with an expected delivery date in September or October. This might sound crazy and excessive, but it works out well for me now. I decided to stay local with Mini of Sterling who keep their tack-ons to a minimum and offer some pretty sweet accessories.

I know the wait seems a bit excessive. The other part is I get to drive my Miata through the summer. I kept it all winter in semi-drydock and left the nasty winter driving to the Saab and it seemed a shame to make it sit all that time for spring to come and just get rid of it. Who knows maybe by then I'll find some way to keep them both. I always wanted a Mini to my big car.

Is anyone else out there on such a long wait?

I have been waiting since 8/26 with delivery early next week...
About 6 1/2 months. Good luck with your delivery date (EDD).

Please keep the Miata, It will be your big car. You risk serious mental problems if you "get rid of" a Miata. Just the sound of that statement makes my skin crawl. Find a way, you won't be sorry

Thanks for the sentiment and I certainly agree with you. I have the time to find a way to make it happen. I imagine come fall I won't be willing to part with it. There are fews feelings in the world like open air motoring The two cars certainly share a common soul.

You should check around if you're in more of a rush.

I could order a Mini for May delivery by ordering from Richmond who are reportedly a very good dealership. They charge a $600 or so dealer prep fee but there's less of a wait. I used the dealer fee to pay for a few options and an opporunity to learn the art of patience.

Although I would definitely agree, If you ordered a sunroof on your MINI, you won't need or want a convertible. The sunroof is so incredible I think it's better! And this coming from a former convertible-lover!

Between the options you have - such as tilt, partially open, fully open, closed and any of the above with or without the mesh screen, you can USE your sunroof 80% of the year - even in the Northeast (I'm in NJ). In light rain, you can open a sunroof and not get wet (due to some cool physics laws) while you can't do that in a convertible. The sunroof is most of the roof ao you can still see out in the winter and with all of the opening options plus those with the mesh screen, you can get fresh air without excessive wind or noise - ho it's just great! Can't wait 'til Spring!!!

There's one simple reason why I didn't get a WRX last winter. NO SUNROOF!!! $25k for a car and no sunroof? Get real!

I love the Mini sunroof. It's practically a targa as is (too bad the back panel doesn't pop off). I would say of all the features on the Mini - that the sunroof was what pushed me over the edge.

The only issue I had with a convertible is with very few exceptions the rear windows are too small and they are dangerous to drive with regards to visibility when the top is up. As for the driving top down in the rain, that does add an element of excitement to any trip when you're trying to beat the rain home. The only major scourge is traffic! I've had a few trips where I'm racing home in a steady drizzle with the top down past cars hoping that I get off the interstate before traffic backs up on my exit.

Well that, I guess leads you to the downside of the pop top. My battered rotator cuff from reaching behind my head and flipping that top up.

Put our deposit down last month with a delivery sometime in August.

Gives us a chance to put the projected payment in the savings account all summer and come out on top on the down payment.

Now THAT is a great idea! Why not make the back sunroof like a T-top sort deal that will pop off and stash in the boot?!

This would be WAY cool IMO!
