R50/53 What's your favorite road?
We'll be driving the Dragon (US129) and the "Cherohala Skyway" next month. Really looking forward to these awesome roads.
We were in San Francisco last month and drove from SF to Monterey/carmel and back on the Pacific Coast Highway. It was fantastic!
My all time favorite road is the "Columbia Icefields Parkway" (Route 93) that runs a top of the Canadian Rockies (Highest road in northamerica) between the towns of Jasper and Banff (About 218 miles length) in Alberta. Drove it about a year ago and was absolutely breathtaking.

Can't Deny That Any Part Of Cal Hwy 1 Is A Blast And Beautiful(except Maybe From Santa Monica South To Its Southern End At Capistrano Beach), But I'm A Little Partial To G16 (carmel Valley Road) From Hwy 1 To Us101. Tight Twisty And Fun.

I don't yet have a Mini, but i have a few that i've ridden on my bike that were simply amazing. The above road was one of those.

The dragon, i need not say more. Just be on the lookout for 18 wheelers, they get stuck. Also just in case you're driving in a "spirited" manner, they do have a few speed traps as well, just a little hint.. motorcyclist use codes, if you see a rider tapping the top of his helmet there is a speed trap.
Killboy is around on the weekends taking action pics as well Hwy 1 - Alcan - Alaska highway.
Scenary, steep grades, sweepers galore. Just be on the lookout for wildlife
Dall sheep, caribou, moose and bears, oh my. If you see tall rocks off the shoulder Expect sheep. Had a close encounter in Banf whatching one of them stand in the road starring down a motorist as the rest of the group crossed.
Braced and ready to ram.

Vermont has some great roads
For folks in the Northeast, a trip to Vermont is a great way to hit the twisties.
Here was my regular Sunday motorcycle ride when I lived there: Route 17 over the appalachian gap from Bristol to Waitsfield. From Waitsfield pick up Route 100 South. Pull over in Warren and visit the Warren store for lunch on their deck overlooking a babbling brook. Continue on 100 South through the Granville Gulch (Gulf?). Shortly thereafter, at Hancock pick up Route 125 West through Ripton (awesome). Once in East Middlebury, take 116 North back up to Bristol, then you can repeat as needed.

CA Hwy 25 from Hollister to US 101
Gromit801 - please check your map ... Hwy 25, between 101 and Hollister is a flat, 2-lane, 55MPH speed trap. I would think you meant Hwy 25 from Hollister to the Pinnacles.

You're right. I meant to say Hwy 25 south from Hollister to Hwy 198.

My favorite road is.....
...the one less travelled (esp by bicyclists)
There are just too many great ones around here and many have been mentioned already. Pashnit is very handy, worth being aware that its a motorcycle site though so be aware of them out there.

This is a really great thread. However, it would be great if it could be segmented into sub-threads by geographic region (northern CA, southern CA, New England, and, and, and). Any chance of that happening? Or, do we just have to go through the entire thread? It is one thing when there are 50 posts, but quite another if the post count is north of 200.
