LOL you may want to check your scales. Unsprung weight does make a big difference, but there is no way your 15" holey wheels and 205/55 Yokohamas weigh 22 lbs total. Since the wheels by themselves weigh 12 lbs, and according to Tire Rack's spec chart, the Yokohamas weigh 21 lbs each, you're looking at 33 lbs total wheel and tire weight, not 22 lbs.

I looked at the weights and performance specs of a lot of different tires before I settled on my Toyo T1R's for summer duty, and my 195/55-15's come in at only 16.5 lbs each, for a total weight on my 15" holey wheels of 28.5 lbs. One of these days I'll get some 15" SSR wheels and take another 3 lbs or so off the total wheel/tire weight.

My opinion, of course, is worth exactly $.02, but I am amazed that you average only about 24mpg with a MC. Seems like Irwin is out in the mountains. Is it a CVT? Do you never see a straight highway? Live on a dirt road? Is your foot on the floor at all times? Something seems wrong here, MC's should hit 30 with no problem.

The OBC on MIB says 29.0 MPG But there are some things to think about. Took delivery in winter on Winter formulations. I haven't reset the OBC since taking delivery, now MIB is just over 3400 miles thoroughly broken in.

Maybe I should reset the OBC now that we are past breakin?

Another thought. I normally drive in the 2K-4K range. Maybe I should drive in the 3K-5K range.

Something else. I believe in 2004 they got new final drive ratios. Those 34+ MPG people may be the 2002-2003 owners?

Well then, just to confuse things further, I get right at 20.6 highway or city in with my JCW
