R50/53 Service Problem?!?!?
I recently I noticed that the black piece of molding on my car that is between the window and the drivers side window was cracked at the top..plus my car as been pulling to the right. So i called the service department and went at 7am....told them what was up and they drove me to work...1 hour and a half they called and said they fixed the problem with the car pulling to the right no charge....then he said the molding isnt covered under warrantee so it will cost 128 to fix...so i said go ahead....then they call me back in 2 hours and let me know that while fixing the piece they cracked the new piece because it has to be bent and it is cold out......so they said come back tomarrow and dont worry about the charge ....so i went back to the dealer today at 7am and waited the finished it 10 to 9am ...and i left ..upon driving about 3 miles away they called me and said " I hope you are not far but we forgot to take care of your bill....inturn i said well i was under the assumption as per my conversation with you yesterday that there was no charge they said no there is a charge ...so i gave them my c/c over the phone ...then i thought about it and called them back...I told the service manager that how can this not be covered under warrantee I have had the car for 42 days and even ur department told me that the piece is delicate and it was cold that is why it broke and you even broke it when u were installing it .... I know that you say it isnt covered but it does say in the manual that it is at your discrection....he told me there was nothing he could do his hands are tide......SHOULD I CALL ASK MINI ?? what do u guys think??
MJC1880 -- Sure, call MINIUSA and complain, but at this point there's probably nothing that they can or will do for you since you gave the service guy your credit card number. Let this be a lesson...DO NOT pay for something on the phone and then later try to change your mind. If you had doubts about whether this was a legit charge (and I sure would have had doubts!), then why on earth did you give the guy your credit card number???
Gas2Hi is right though, this part should be covered under warranty. I can tell you that any part on my car that breaks (unless I physically break it myself by obvious abuse) WILL be replaced for free by my dealer. Period.
Another thing...what's the dealer? They sound like a place that others might want to avoid. At least write a dealer review of this incident.
Finally, it may help in getting folks to respond to your posts if you'd write in paragraphs. The huge block of text is sort of intimidating. Just a thought.
