Can anyone answer a sound system question? I have a 2003 MCS, built last September. I think I remember reading that the 2003 models came with a jack that allows you to plug your MP3 player into the car's sound system. Never paid much attention until now; but I recently got an iPOD as a present and would love to use it in the car. I tried checking the owners manual for info on this, but no luck. Does the car have this feature? And, if so, where do you plug in? Thanks much for your help.

Ed

I just picked up an iPod too, it's my favorite new toy (until the MSC arrives on Friday, that is).

I recommend you check out the Audio forum, and do a search for "iPod" or "MP3 player." I know I've seen this discussion before, and there was some useful info there. I believe there's a jack behind the head unit of the radio on Sept '02 builds forward, but you might need an adapter. We should go check it out...

And welcome to MCO, by the way...

The '03 cars are "aux input ready", however, it requires an adapter that plugs into the wire harness on the back of the head unit. The problem is, this adapter does not currently exist (or, at least is it not on the market yet). However, there are a couple of options here.

1. Wait for MINI to make the factory adapter available. Word ont he street is that this could be happening very soon.

2. If you don't want to wait, you can buy one of these now: Blitzsafe MINI aux input adapter
This adapter simply plugs into your existing CD changer cable in the back of your MINI. Note, however, that there is a different model of this adapter available in case you plan on using it with a CD changer as well. Once this adapter is installed, then all you have to do is run some RCA cables up to the front of the car.

Ok, a related but different question. Will my stock dash cd player read mp3s? If I rip my cds, and burn them to a single disk, will Alice play them on road trips? :???:

Hi there,

I don't think the stock unit will. I'll give it a try tonight unless someone else answers first!
