R50/53 Sunroof--Yes or No
[quote]
It's not the same if car has or hasn't sunroof. Take a box of shoes and try to roll it, then cut about 80% of cardboard and try again to roll it. You will see what happen. The same think it's with car.

So if you wanna drive realy fast forget abaut sunroof. It's not worth for some wind in hair.
Not if you have steel reinforcement wrapped around it. Kinda like a Jeep with a roll bar. It makes no difference what the skin is..

I've be pondering over what color I would like the roof to be with the sunroof. Has anybody tried a white perforated decal over the sunroof for a white roof? How would that look? I think that would also help reduce the heat getting into the car on sunny days. Anybody have any thoughts about decalling the sunroof white?

I found that the perfs, by the nature of the product, tend to look slightly off-color (the dark tint sunroof coming through), so I think a solid white perf would look like the inner part of your roof was dirty. With a pattern (flag, etc), it's less noticeable.
I want to see someone do a tromp l'oeil graphic on the sunroof showing something unique going on inside the MINI. Should be a hoot for truckers passing by.
For those unfamiliar with the term, tromp l'oeil is the art of deceiving the eye. It is often used on ceilings and walls to create the illusion of being open to the outside. Done well, it can be truly amazing.
Here is one example:

heh heh. I like this idea! I would imagine that with a photo and some PShop work someone should be able to come up with something pretty good!
I wish I was talented enough to do this - if so, I would start working on it right away!

Jstines, Thanks for the feedback. I thought that's what it would do, look dirty. Tromp L'oeil, fantastic idea, you can have alot of fun with that. Perhap a hologram so when the truckers pass by it, the scene will be animated.
