R50/53 Vanity lighting for license plate

This weekend I actually taped off 1/2 of each license plate lamp, so just the plate is lit. (lighting is set up for UK-sized plates, not narrower US plates) To me it looks better as my IB gets pretty dusty (great D/FW air quality??) and with that licence plate light raking over the car's back...it just showed off the dirt too much. I used electrical tape and just covered the outer half of each light...this seemed about perfect. Might do something more permanent someday, who knows...I'm just amazed at how vane I am about a little dust! Anyway this might be something of interest to owners of those darker colored MINIs.

I might try that when our Velvet Red MC arrives.
Where we live, it rains almost every day and the dirt and mud shows up well on dark colored cars.

It's not a vanity thing....it's a MINIac thing!!

Can the dome be taken off and blacked out (paint maybe) and placed back on?
