How will I know if my car was OK after

it got off the boat. My car got off the boat December 13th in
California and is still in transit to Denver. Will the dealership
voluntarily tell me if something had to be fixed? I'll definately
ask my MA but I'm just wondering why its taken a month to
get from the port to the dealer.

Regardless of how long it takes to arrive, ask the dealer if there was any damage during shipping/transport. If your MINI spends weeks at the port of entry, this might suggest that they are repairing damage.

But don't be too paranoid. My MCS spent several weeks trapped in Halifax under a few feet of snow, and then travelled across Canada by train. Just normal, unpreventable delays...nothing sinister!

Ooo....you are feeding into my paranoid fantasies! I, too, will be waiting for my car to arrive in Denver (after docking in California, apparently) in the next couple of weeks. I had not yet worried about potential damage at the dock (although my mother tells stories of the Air Force dropping my father's car onto the dock when he returned from an overseas posting). Argh! I just want my car to arrive so that I can comfort it and tell it all is okay...

I had a Mustang damaged in transit years ago. Bought it new, long pause between leaving factory and arrival at dealer. Found out later that right rear quarter had been repaired and re-painted. There is a dollar amount threshold over which manufacturers are supposed to report it, but few do.

Back to today . . . MINIs have been known to break loose in the hold of the transport ships and bounce around a bit . . . just a thought.

Probably because they're so excited about meeting us... or maybe they're claustrophobic being trapped in a ship, and getting the shakes!

I think that's it. They should at least leave the lights on below deck . . .
