R50/53 Suggest A MINI Meet Award!!
Creative Thinking Time:
We're organizing the Wolfe Island Canada MINI Meet, taking place in September '03.
Our Awards Group needs some help.
The post below is in our event discussion forums (Genereal Q&A).
Team MCO: Your ideas would be really appreciated. Be witty, creative & MINI-like in your thinking. As you can see our Awards Group needs a lot of help!!
Here we go:
Event Awards
We're working on a number of Awards for our entrants, and we need your suggestions.
Some ideas so far are:
Best MINI Colour Combination
Best MINI Aftermarket Add-Ons
Best MINI Performance Mods
Best MINI Graphics
Wolfe Island Canada MINI Of The Year
The winners will be chosen by judges from the local Boot 'n Bonnet Club. Prizes will be awarded in the evening at our Comedy Club gathering.
So, over to you. The "Suggest An Award" suggestion box is open!

There should be an honorable mention award for the dirtiest MINI .
Other ideas:
Best use of cargo space or "you couldn't fit another item in this MINI" award.
Highest mileage award (ya gotta reward for those many motorin' miles).
Most chrome award.

furthest distance traveled. Good luck with your meet. I really need to get out to , eastern Canada again. My mom's family is all from Alberta, southern B.C. and the Yukon so I'm pretty familiar with the western part (part of the reason I took that trip to Jasper last year). Anyhow, it would be really nice if I had about 8 more weeks of paid vacation so I could do all the stuff I'd like to do this summer.
OK, let's try it this way:
Pretend you and your MINI are in a weekend event. You're MOTORING, touring, showing off, hangin' out, doing cool social stuff, and then spending the second day at a track.
No race prizes (well, maybe a "best time" prize) but think about this:
"What Award do you want to win for your MINI? What Award do you NOT want to win?"
C'mon, MCO - get creative. Our Awards Group is boring. They seriously need your help....!

at Mini Meet #3 in Pompano, they awarded the "Motoring Cup." It went to the several people...the guy who wrecked his mini during the rally, the one who had to call for directions during the rally, etc. It was really neat.
So at my December meet, a MINI mug had been donated. In the spirit of MM3, I awarded it as the "Motoring Cup." It went to Tim, who travelled all the way from England to see us at this meet. (Well...the meet coincided with his vacation...but what the hey.)

How about oldest/youngest driver? If you talk real sweet to the vendors you can get them to donate just about anything. I'm PR person for Gateway Miata Club & I managed to get about $3K in merchandise from vendors all over the country for our holiday party. Just pick up the phone & start calling or emailing. Even if it's just tees & hats the people LOVE it! Possibly an award for best motoring outfit!
