R50/53 Mini Gingerbreads!
OMG! So tonight I thought it would be fun to try out this cookie thing. I planned ahead, though, knowing that my cooking skills are EXTREMELY limited. So rather than risk making that gingerbread stuff from scratch, I thought I'd be much better off using a premade dough.
So, I stopped at the store and picked up some sugar cookie dough. It looked good, seemed like it should work okay. When I rolled out and the dough stuck to everything (rolling pin, pan, my fingers, the counter top, etc.) I should have known to stop.
But no...I had to keep going. So I sprayed it with a little Pam to keep it from sticking. Ah...much better. Now I can roll it out! Yeah! Unfortunately that didn't solve the problem of not being able to cut it. The dough was just all wrong so nothing worked - knives, cookie cutters, didn't matter - the dough was just the wrong stuff. But here I was with an oven ready and cookie dough all over the kitchen.
Oh well...I'll just make my own Mini's. Freehand style!!!!!
They looked pretty good. The first one was the best, but they got progressively worse as the dough became more sticky and softer. The last one looked nothing like a Mini or even a car for that matter. Worried about the dough being too warm, I popped them in the refrigerator for a while before cooking.
So....about 10 mins pass...off to the oven!!! I thought about making icing, but decided I better hold off in case I burned the cookies. Yeah right, like that should even be a worry......
What I failed to realize until it was much too late....sugar cookie dough expands when it cooks. It expands a LOT!!!!!!!! My little almost Mini like shapes rapidly turned into mounds of goo traveling around the cookie sheet and morphing into something that looks more like a melted marshmallows.
So this is what happens when you get the whole thing wrong. I was laughing so hard at how funny they looked that I felt compelled to confess to the group just how horrible they were. So here it is...the picture....

Hey hoopi, that's the spirit!
I always followed my great, great, grandma's secret receipe. Every time I deviate, I have to "dispose" of the spoils before anyone catches me.
Your cars look like they comply with the new E.U. pedistrian safety standard!

Hoopi, you definetly get an "A" for effort
, baking can be tricky. I love that cookie cutter and will have to get one, I do a lot of baking at the holidays, and I have got to get me a mini cookie cutter.
How's black taste?
Really cool idea! How would a picture of a Chili Red MINI taste?
