So did anyone catch this morning's episode of Legends of Motorsports? It was from a race in 1962, or thereabouts, from Sandown in Australia. It was alot of fun to watch and listen to the commentary. What really stood out to me was how well the Mini's handled the turns, ie actually keeping all four tires on the ground. The other cars seemed to be getting knocked out due to brake issues, caused by the fact that they couldn't take the turns like the Minis and were burning up their brakes going into the turns. There were many shots of the other cars taking the turns on only 3 or 4 wheels while the Mini just scooted around with no probs! Anyway the top 5 finishers were (I'm not exatly sure, will have to replay to be sure) were Lotus, Mini, Alfa Romeo, Mini, Mini!
The clothing on the racers and the spectators was almost as much fun to see as the race!

I saw that a couple years ago. Funny to watch the Mini terrorize the American V8 powered Fords whose suspension & brakes were awful! I may even have that on tape.

 

I love that show. I think I've seen just about every one, I wish they'd make more of them, but that's probably unlikely on Speed aka Nascar TV. Mini's are in quite a few of those episodes, or old Cooper F1 cars as well.
