After a many month wait, I picked up our S today from International Mini in Milwaukee.

DS/B MCS, premium, winter, H/K, driving lights, space cloth, 16" 5-spoke rims. Very smooth, quick exchange w/the dealer. No problems, no complaints. (they have quite a few cars on the lot, btw)

Drove from Milwaukee to Madison. 20 degrees and sunny makes for a nice day to drive. Have about 120 miles on it so far and i will leave Madison tomorrow for a 1900 mile trek back to Seattle. (Here's to good weather.) The initial report is as follows.

-For a $22K car, it is pretty well put together. NO RATTLES!! (yet)
-Some of the materials are quality, some aren't. The paint/finish on the door handles is gallingly cheap.
-No verdict on the H/K yet. I was hoping it would BLOW ME AWAY...and it didn't. Though it might on the long drive home.
-The MFSW is way, way, way cool. I hadn't given it a thought before I picked it up and it might be the cars best feature.
-The heated seats high setting gets uncomfortable in a hurry, low works just fine.
-In spite of recent complaints I've read, I like the HVAC system.
-The space cloth looks pretty good...but
-The seats are quite stiff and I'm not sure I like them
. I hope they soften up over time. Maybe leather would have been a better choice?
-The car didn't draw as much attention as I thought it might...which is just fine w/me.
-Highway driving is rock solid. It is hard not to speed.
-I have nothing to say about performance until I can rev the motor but
-I had one moment of pure joy on an exit loop.

So, in two more days w/11 or 1200 miles behind me, let the wild rumpus begin

mmmmm,,,,,,you don't sound too enthusiastic to me for a new mini owner.......
Did you bother to test drive one before you purchased-?. Did you even sit in one before you purchased??? A bit of due dilligence before a major purchase goes a long way........ As far as not getting any "looks" What do you expect in Wisconsin?
Drive across the border to Minnesota and I guarantee you'll get all the looks you want. I sincerely hope you learn to love your new mini.....
And remember, "The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese"

You know, it's funny. I hear about more MINIs out in Madison. I have family there, and they tell me all the time how many they see. Apparently a number of folks at UW-Madison have MINIs, so I'm actually not surprised you didn't get too many looks there. In fact, I saw my first MINI in person in Madison...last May when I was visiting a cousin at UW (it was LY/B...I remember it well... )

Anyway, good luck with your drive!
