mini blind spot greater?

Is it me or the blind spot in the mini is greater than other cars. I find that I have to turn my head more often to make sure there's no cars before switching lanes.

On another note, I find it pretty boring driving an automatic car after driving a stick shift for a few months. I can't wait to get back in my MCS after this 1 week loaner.

There is really no such thing as a blind spot if your side mirrors are properly adjusted.

I hate when people don't have their mirrors adjusted properly. Can really tell when you're behind them at a light, and you cans see their face in their rear view as well as their side mirrors.

First thing I noticed about the Mini when I test-drove it, was how much MORE I could see, than when I was in my camaro. I don't think the blindspots in the Mini are significant, if any.

Depends on seat position and driving style of course.

That funny, my MINI has the least amount of blind spot of any car I have ever owned. I guess it really depends on what kind of cars you have owned, but the pillars are small and don't block much out. I am used to hatchbacks with a huge blindspot. It also depends if you have the seat back a bit and low, or if you have it very erect, yes, I said erect. If you raise your seat as high as it will go and keep it very upright than there is barely any blind spot (and it is better for your back, especially the lower lumbar region). You may not like it at first but will notice less back pain on long drives and a much safer driving experience. Unless of course you have the seat all the way back and low to the ground driving with one arm and leaning to the side rolling down the street swerving side to side and bumping, but that is a different story.

Click and Clack have a method of adjusting the mirrors to totally eliminate blind spots. You can read it at the web site. I tried it and it really works

the MCS does have a larger blind spot vs other cars in my experience,
but if you adjust the mirrors a little bit you can minimize the area.

also try to sit up higher.

I'm tall and the MINI has a fairly small B pillar which is good. I added a 2" convex mirror to the drivers side and I'm good to go...Now if you're talking about the convertible...forget it...it's a cave and hard to see.

Cheers
