05 MCSC no mods

boot latch replaced
seatbelt sensor replaced (caused airbag light to come on)
glove box lock replaced
rear bumper grill fell out & had to be replaced

I am going in this Friday for convertible top work as my top is stuck closed (UGH it's 83 & sunny here all weekend & I refuse to get in the Mini cause it makes me mad to drive with the top up Friday people kept looking at me like why is your top up so instead of driving this weekend I clayed & waxed )

It would also be interesting to start a thread to see how many times your dealer had the parts in vs having to make 2 trips & have parts ordered. I, unfortunately, have found that the dealer had to order parts 100% of the time even though I warned them of my problem well in advance of coming. Nothing like driving 500 miles (2 round trips) for a simple part

I know when I had my window regulators replaced I got the last two in stock, it was something like a two week back order for more because BMW seems to have a vendor that makes real crappy window regulators--too common a problem in all their cars going back many many moons.... Even the six and seven series suffer from the same malady.

And I had to come back to get my fuse panel door/rocker panel replaced because it had to be ordered. otherwise everything else was in stock. JB

I haven't taken my MINI in for anything warranty related that wasn't covered...and cheerfully so! Had two door panels replaced, window motor thingies, and probably a few other items I'm forgetting. And this doesn't even count maintenance items...wiper blades, oil changes, brake pads, battery. Bottom line, I've only put gas in this car...no other expenses. I should also add that the local MINI dealer I have service done at is pretty much top notch.

Fear not: 2 MINIs, 31,000 miles=no problems (24,000/7,000)

Ouch!

Brand new owner of a brand new MCS (2 weeks).

From the sound of things, my Elise might be more reliable! (never thought I'd say that about a Lotus).

Should I truly be expecting a clutch slave/master cylinder failure?

I think I read that happened to someone coming home from the dragon?

I'm going to take mine in for a new clock, since mine won't keep accurate time. I read about the TSB on this - does this count? Sorry if this doesn't help the stats.

Otherwise no problems on my (low mileage) '05 MCS.

You are reading a thread wholly based on MINI defects...

I'm sure if you went over to the lotus boards and did the same thing, it would be pretty long.

I'll second that about the Elise - very reliable even when compared to a "normal" car. Not to be disloyal to NAM, but EliseTalk is probably the best source for info on the Elise, if you weren't aware of it.

EDIT: Here's a link to EliseTalk - http://www.elisetalk.com/forums/index.php? My name is Goose there, too.

Hi all. Looking at some responses to my post, I think I may have been imprecise. Not asking about the clutch cylinders on the Elise, but on the Mini.

I'm having a ball with the Mini, I'm just wondering, as a new owner, if I'm in for a ton of headaches, big and small.

In many years, and in many cars, I've had warranty work done ONCE (not recalls either) (except for that miserable Fix-it-all the Time FIAT).

So whats the REAL scoop for the people who have had their MINIs for some time???
We had a FIAT 128. Never had warranty work done on it, but it sure went through parts like it was hungry for them. 5000 miles on plugs, 10k on brakes if you're lucky. Starters, alternators didn't last either. The parts were pricy like MINI parts. It handled nearly as good as a MINI but the engine wasn't so gutsy.

We've had warranty fixes on our car. Nothing big. The recall for emissions control...which included sofware and a new PCV pipe. Can't think of much else. The car hasn't been fixed much, mostly just modded.

(EDIT) I forgot, the air conditioner needed filled up 2 times. The first time, they put indicator refrigerant in it. The 2nd time, they noticed it had been leaking from a filler valve.
