When I ordered my car back in May, I added the security system a couple days after the actual "order". When I picked the car up, in my excitement I didn't notice until I got home that I didn't have the red indicator light on either stalk. So I was thinking I got ripped off but I noticed I didn't get charged for a security system. Yet, I have the panic mode (LOUD noise and flashing lights) and the other day my windows were down but the car was locked and somehow I managed to set off the alarm. So I wonder if I got a freebie just without the special steering column stalk?

 

The alarm is packaged in two modules... Alarm module (include, tilt sensor, motion sensor and the alarm unit), stalk indicator module. The probably put in the alarm module, but haven't installed the indicator.. I bet they only charge you for the alarm module only.

 

Your car chirps when you lock it right? Then you have the alarm installed. I bet they didn't install the light stalk because you have one of Jan05 and later cars which need the light stalk instead of the wiper stalk. I have it so I have a red and yellow stalk.

 

The new stalk has not been out long. I only recently had mine installed eventhough I got my car in March. I too have both the yellow and red stalks. ski

 

Well I know I didn't get charged for any part of the alarm system so I'm not gonna complain

 

I wasn't aware that the new stock was even out yet. All the alarms that I have had installed on 05s have not had a light either. I had our tech look into it on the last one and he said that MINI had not released it yet. (That has been a couple weeks ago). Kenny, you may not be a believer in Karma, but I sure am. I'd bring it to their attention, and say; I'll pay for the alarm but I want the stock installed as soon as they get one in.
