Why do you feel bi-xenons are so important? How often do you use your brights? The brights are still effective with halogen.

The brights are VERY effective with the xenon combo. I really can't understand how anyone could knock them - perhaps it's buyers remorse or jealousy? There are no drawbacks to xenon - the substantial responses here are testiment to that.

Yeah that's me "XENON-envy", heh, heh heh, funny stuff, but I think you may have been serious...

I noted a lot of the "youngsters" here, with some exceptions, were more head over heels and vocal about the Xenon's. I am happy that MINI helped with my ordering dilemma by shutting down the changes.

And yes I do think they have a internal "ray gun" toy look that doesn't really agree with me. Also I'd imagine the halogens will be easier to replace out on the road, don't you think? Are they a standard plug and play?

Well I am of the older crowd which is why I really like the xenons. They are much brighter with a more useful pattern. It allows old farts like me to see better. I also think they look cool, but that is more of a form follows function thing.

I love the xenons on my car and would get another car without them as long as it's available. One thing I noticed in comparison to my halogen equipped Sentra (with fogs) is visibility in bad weather. The cutoff reduces reflection back at you and does a better job of penetrating through rain and such. I have Silverstars in my Sentra and while they are very good, still no match for the Xenons.

Jealously? I think not. Rather, difference of opinion and presenting the "other side" of the coin. Deal with it.....

Sport seats are standard factory equipment on the MCS, optional on the MC.

Wouldnt live without them. Best lights to see with, crisp and clear, not that yellow old burned out look. Got to try them to like them.

Xenons are..

..really good...bright light and great coverage on the sides...Also, they help in making your car more visible.

BUT...I always get the feeling that I am overdriving them...especially when it is raining...

But then, it can be me (driving at ludicrous speeds in unfavorable conditions...)

another thing about 2006 Xenons

Something else to remember about 2006 MINI and BMW Xenons will actually turn as you turn the steering wheel. Granted only 7-15 degrees (I think) but they do turn.

Halogens are like a cat on a chair. If you want that cat to turn, you have to turn the chair. Atleast a dog will look where it is going!

Botom line is simply this Xenons or hallogens, your'e still getting a MINI and that is a GOOD Thing to have!

Xenons 'steer'?

Is that true? Do the '06 Xenons actually 'turn' with the steering? This is the first I've heard of that feature. I just saw the new VW ad touting their new 'steering' headlamp system (probably also Xenon). If that's true, that would certainly justify part of the cost of the upgrade. Driving on mountain roads at night really illuminate (pardon the pun) the need for side shoulder lighting. Better lighting means better safety, whether it's Xenons or fog lights.

I know lexus has the feature where the headlights swivel as the car turns.
My in-laws have this on the GS400.. Can't really see the difference and you have the added weight, cost and complexity. Way more negatives than anything useful. More gimmicks to raise the cost of the car and more chance of repairs.

When I drove my car to Colorado from Michigan, I really didn't notice the Xenons. That was until Bambi jumped out in front of me about 2am on I-80 in the middle of nowhere. That's when I noticed I can see way better then the halogens on the other vehicle.

But, if it's a huge cost issue that you'd get rid of a scooter, DON'T DO IT!

Re-read my bike post...I have a RD400 stashed away that needs a good going thru and restoration anyhow. Buell is a great bike, but like every good long-time biker I have a spare sitting around somewhere to fall back on. It ran excellent (the Yamaha) in 2000, but I let it sit too long after that in a distant city. Not nearly as reliable as the Buell XB9S, but I'll get by for a few years.

Any takers?

2003 Buell XB9S, 6500 easy miles, no leaks, good shape, Mobil 1. Pay off my loan for about $6500, located Orlando, Fla.

Wrong spot,...really?

I think this is the 2nd or 3rd poster that told me not to sell my motorcycle in this topic thread that started about whether I should add Xenons to my order.

Well maybe that's because you keep posting a for sale ad in a xenon thread? Hmmmm

Read for comprehension and retention, I thought short term memory loss was just for us geezers.

I mentioned once in my second post about selling my moto because it would be more fun for my wife and daughter to enjoy the MINI together and I wasn't driving it that much. (Two pages back, EONS ago in those with a split second attention span). Three different folks then said "don't sell the motorcycle."

I said "No, remember I said I have a spare one" and then "listed" the XB if any of the bike enthusiasts that were responding to this thread would have any comments.

Did anyone else notice the nice Aprilia track/street bike in the signature of one writer? I sure did, Colorado I believe he hailed from, all this without even looking back to double check.

READ more Please,... practice, practice practice...

Xeons hands down...

Halogens dont compare. I got used to having them on my Audi S4 miss them when I have to drive my wifes passport. They are awesom on the MINI.

Sure you can put 4-40 driving lights up front but thats not the point. The point is for every day use, like in normal night time driving the Halogens dont stand a chance compared to the Xeons. Had both... love the Xeons.

What does the term "overdriving" mean, in reference to headlights? Not familiar with that, thanks =)

I think they mean driving faster/harder than they should given the visibility they have. I.E. driving too fast down a dark country back road.
