MINI Delivery process

I took delivery back in 2002. Everything went perfect, but it was not the typical MINI delivery since I arrived unexpected.

I was wondering if anyone has any unique or great delivery stories to share? Who here has had the best delivery???

I was surprised at my delivery. Picked it up this summer 5 days before my 24th birthday, just took my parents with me. Got inside and the whole family was there, my MINI wasn't just covered--it also had a big red Lexus-style bow on it. My brother had been planning with the MA to hold off delivery a couple days. Best birthday party I ever had! Although, I still have to pay for it myself.

Nothing special here. But I was told by the recepionist at Northwest MINI

That they make a big thing out of people picking up there MINIs.
I was hoping for it to be somewhat special but all it ended up being was a bunch of paperwork signing with a very bored looking MA
The best part was getting in and driving our Francis

My MA told my husband my car was there, but not me. My husband was trading in his car and lured me to the dealership under the guise of going for "one last ride in the old car". When we got there, DC was parked in front my MA's desk and the SOLD sign had the customer name as "Anakin". He knew I was naming the car Darth Cooper. It was soooo cool! I can't wait to buy my next one!

I had a weird delivery.

I bougth my MINI at a dealership in a different state, about 4 hours away. The car came in towards the end of the month, so they wanted me to take possession of it as soon as possible (for inventory purposes). They asked me to come get it at 9:30 Monday morning and I agreed, even though that meant coming in Sunday night, getting a hotel room, and taking vacation time from work. (In other words, I put my life on hold to come get my MINI at their requested time). Well, when I showed at 9:30 sharp, the first words I hear are "Oh, crap. You're here. We weren't expecting you." Yeah, right.
Turns out the car came in later on Friday than expected, and they were still working on the dealer install stuff. I had to wait around until 2pm to get my MINI, which made me late getting home, which made me tired, which made me take yet another day off of work. Argh. (Side note: I appreciate their willingness not to rush the installs, though. They did a top-notch job!)

Oh, and when they finally brought my MINI around, there were all these people clustered around it touching it! I haven't even touched it, or barely even seen it, and all these people are stroking my car! Turns out the tech considered my MINI the best Invisishield job he's ever done, and he asked everyone at the dealership out to see.
