For those that have both rubber and carpet mats or have experienced both, do the carpet mats dampen road noise any better than the rubber mats?

what dampened the road noise for me was getting rid of the run flats....I switched from 17" wheels and runflats to lighter 16" wheels and Yokohami tires....huge difference in handling as well as much better ride and quieter....I doubt that floormats would make much difference IMO....

There's been a couple threads on this already. Although, I don't think anyone has touched on the mats being used as a dampening device for road noise. I have both. Switched from carpet to rubber. Staying with the rubber mate 'cause they're better looking than the plain old carpet ones. They really some extra style that works with the rest of the car's looks. Really easy to clean, and a perfect fit. As for a noise dampener, can't really say for sure. Never really thought about noticing that. But I must agree. If you have the $$$, go for some non-runflat tires. They're too hard and make bumps seem bigger and road noise louder. Switch the tires, and you'll be amazed. Just my opinion
