new guy needs help

hello all

I have recently picked up a 2003 mini, S model and I need an owners manual and even a repair manual would be great. I do all my own maintenance.

The BIG problem is the need for the owners manual.

I have run-flat tires/system and the light on the dash which I am pretty sure is the run flat light(looks like a tire with and exclamation point in it) letting me know I have a flat tire is flashing but the tires are all properly inflated so I dont know how to either reset or fix the problem.

And what is the button under the parking brake that again has the same symbol on it as the flashing light on my dash do. I push it and nothing happens.

Also I have the DSC toggle on the dash. When i flip the toggle the triangle with the exclamation point comes on the dash. Does that mean I have turned the DSC on or off.

Finally is anybody in the miami Florida area. If so is there a club that gets together regularly so I can get in the know. And please if some one has a manual please help. It is my first exotic car.

p.s. you should have seen how long it took me to find the hood latch inside and out.

Thanks
MiniMotoMan

Have you registered on the Owners Lounge yet?

You can view, dowload or print the entire Owners Manual on there

http://https://ol.miniusa.com/oemainlogin.asp

Sign up and then go to My MINI and look on the left and it will say Owners Manual.

The Florida MINI club is Sunshine MINIs.... great group of people. Go out to the main forum list and head all the way to the bottom for the regional boards... you should be able to find a FL board in there.

I belive the little black button down by the e-brake handle resets the tire warning.

You have to push and hold to reset though... not just push and release.

Light ON means DSC/ASC is OFF

Why don't you call 1-866-295-6464 and ASK Mini to tell you what packages were installed on your MINI. Then you can buy the repair manual so you can work on your car.

Minimotoman:

If the "runflat system" is lighting up on the dash then it's detecting a different read out of your air pressure in one of your tires.. Check your tire pressure and if you have either fixed the problem, or if there is no problem at all, then put your key in .. Turn your key to ACC w/o turning on your car, where you can see all your nice lights on your dash light up.. And depress that button under the parking brake for a good 2 - 3 seconds to reset that light...

By default , I believe DSC is on, and when you flip the switch, it turns it off

Hope this helps..

OH BTW, get the BENTLEY manual for the MINI COOPER.. that's what I use for my MINI and my BMW...

As stated, the tire monitor button needs to be held for a few seconds. Sometimes I have had to turn off the car, then turn it back on to reset it. I will sometimes get the tire pressure warning after changing wheels, even though the wheels & tires I changed from/to are the same exact size. I've even had it come on after jacking the car up, without having removed a wheel. Just check all your tire pressures (the tire can be low without showing it, due to the stiff sidewall of the runflat tire), and if they are OK, reset it and motor!

Flipping the toggle switch for DSC, which turns the light on, DISABLES the DCS, which is why there is an exclamation point there. I only disable it when autocrossing/racing, but others disable it for spirited street driving, which I do not do, especially here in Florida with all of this snow and ice!

Welcome to NAM, minimotoman! I agree that picking up a copy of the Bently MINI Manual is a good suggestion. Be sure to check the pressure in all your tires, then reset the button.

If you don't want to sign up for the owners lounge try this link:
http://www.motoringfile.com/files/20...perCooperS.pdf
If that don't work goto http://www.motoringfile.com and on the right side down low in the MotoringFile Downloads you can download a PDF of any year of manual you need. As for the service manual try Walmart, that is where I got mine, just search for Mini Service Manual.

Your tire indicator flashes?? Mine comes on and stays on untill I reset it, oh well...
