yeh, my first choice is the FX35 actually... but due to it being a

not be too economical for us especially with this Rita just
knocking out a huge oil refinery. also, the FX35 doesn't have
much cargo space as one might imagine...

I don't mind spending gas on my weekend cars with plenty of WOT
at will, but when im bumper to bumper traffic i rather save fuel
and money.

now back to the MCS vs TSX program.

The Subaru Legend GT is a VERY nice auto. Similar in size to the TSX but faster..much, much faster...and it actually has torque below 5k rpms.

That would be a good choice I think.

We don't get that model here in the States.

While shopping for my new car, to please the wife we test drove a TSX. She was sold on it. I talked her into driving the car around the corner and parked it on the Mini lot and made my case one more time why we needed to get the Mini. Thank God i talked her into the Mini. Even though there are some positives to the TSX i'm glad every time i get into my car that we didn't get the Acura.

in your comparison, what did you not like about the TSX?

Says the saab driving hypocrit. IMO, the TSX looks much better than your 9-3, and in the eyes of many, looks better than the cooper as well.

If someone's in here complaining about their rattling cooper, I fail to see why they should be encouraged to buy another one?

How am I a hypocrit?, and why do you have to be a ****? I didn't say the TSX looked bad, I said it was boring. Read this entire thread, seems like most people agree with me on this one, buddy.

The TSX has NO style, at least the Saab has a little. I used to work at an Acura dealership while I was in highschool, and I saw the type of people that bought TSXs...people that desperately want to look "rich", but can't afford to buy a REAL luxury car. It was either them, or old women.

The TSX is not a real luxury car either, it's a SLOWER, re-badged Accord.

The MDX is boring and dated, and overpriced.

The RL looks like something my grandfather would drive.

The TL is a great car, I love it, and almost bought one.

Since I saw your original post, I take offense since I own a TSX. Are you 18 (edit: you are 18 )? If so, I wouldn't be telling other people they "desperately want to look rich". Save that for the BMW 3-series owner. The TSX is for people who don't get suckered into the image of "entry luxury" cars but like the comforts.

For anyone that disses Acura or Honda, http://www.caranddriver.com/article....rticle_id=8915, two years running. Has the MINI Cooper or Saab ever been on that list? And while a magazine isn't the end all, the opinions here are pretty petty in light of things. There are 3 Hondas on there, and they don't include the TL or S2000.

Don't even try to explain how a Saab is better. They're way overpriced, hence they end up giving GM "employee discounts" further killing their already horrible residual value (http://www.aiada.org/article.asp?id=29345), and worst of all they are rebading Subaru's.

How does someone who lists their occupation as: Abercrombie & Fitch (part time) + Student at UNH (full time) and was born in 1987 afford a TL???!!! How is it you own a Saab? Abercrombie part time is a lot more lucrative than I thought.

BTW KRGMini05, I find your comments to be rude and obnoxious. I think your statistics regarding the TSX are also way off. I happen to know four local people that drive them and they are all in their late twenties/early thirties, have successful careers and own their own homes. I am one of them. I bought the car because it suited the needs of my wife and I, and soon to be family.

When you graduate college, earn your own money, buy a house, support a family and pay all of your own bills, I'll be curious to see your attitude then. Your age shows in your immature comments.

Sorry to clutter up a this excellent forum with this type of reply, but I'm really annoyed.

I guess my parents are generous.

(Abercrombie pays barely more than minimum wage...I only do it because it's fun and a bunch of my buddies work there.)

Sorry. Didn't mean to tick you off. I shouldn't have said that.

I just don't see why I was singled out by "JeffS" when I was just saying the same thing as everyone else about the TSX. I never said it was a bad car UNTIL I got singled out.

There you go again... You're a hypocrit for bashing the TSX for having the same traits your own car does.

1) you don't even own a mini
2) you're bashing the TSX for no reason to people who don't care

Honestly, you sound like a troll on a TSX board. FWIW, I'd bet you my car that if you were to ask 1000 random people whether they'd rather have a TSX or a 9-3 the TSX would win hands down. I have no way to prove it, but oh well. And BTW, people are only agreeing with you in that they're defending their own cars. Obviously they'd rather have a mini than a TSX... this is a mini board...

And for the record. I have to be a **** because 1) it's my nature and 2) non-owners with some apparent axe to grind (just look at how many times you've posted to put down the same car) get on my nerves.

Understandable, but I'm curious...

Why did you pick the TSX over the Accord EX-V6 that's cheaper, much faster, roomier for your family, handles the same, and looks similar?

I know the Acura badge had at lease a little to do with it,as it does with most people that buy TSXs. I'm not saying that's bad. I would probably pick a TSX over the Accord as well.

To everyone else... I find the multiple remarks about no torque funny. Having no torque at part-throttle is just as bad as having no torque at all... and the bypass valve on the S prettymuch assures that ther'e no power to be had unless you're aggressively accelerating.

Don't get me wrong... I like my car, but I'm realistic about what I own, and don't feel the need to cheerlead any one make or model.

1. If you re-read this thread, I've been one of the LEAST harsh on the TSX. One guy called it a cheap piece of crap. Why don't you ***** at him instead?

2. I bet you more people would pick the TSX as well, most people would take a TSX OR a 9-3 over the MINI though. The general public is not always smart.

3. The TSX and my 9-3 don't share many trait's...have you driven a 9-3? Considering how much you hate them, I doubt it. Maybe you shouldn't be so quick to assume it's a bad car.

4. What does me being a "non-owner" have to do with ANYTHING?

I'm done now with this thread now. Sorry to the people I offended (Kevin, and other TSX owners). You did nothing to me, and I shouldn't have generalized like that.

I'm done now.

Looks like I could spend all day disagreeing with you.

Go over to acura.com and use the comparison tool between the two cars.

The two cars are virtually the same price. The TSX adds HID, a longer warranty, a six-speed transmission and a couple other features. It's also 100lbs lighter. In my eyes, the two cars don't look alike, and certainly don't handle alike. Yes, the V6 makes more power. I personally wouldn't buy either one of them, so it's a moot point anyway.

You could spend all day comparing specs between random cars. It's a pretty pointless exercise. Just like asking car buying advice on brand or card-specific messageboards.

A few reasons off the top of my head:
  • I prefer the looks of the TSX over the Accord.
  • More features. HID etcetera..
  • I prefer a four cylinder engine.
  • Dealer location.
  • Longer warranty than the Accord.
  • The service department at the Acura dealer is excellent.
  • I knew the salesman, he sold me my Volvo four years earlier.
  • They threw in more dealer options. Winter floormats, etcetera..
  • I paid invoice for the TSX. Which is right around what the Accord would have cost me. Though, I didn't really look at them.

The Accord is faster, more expensive (w/ comparable options), handles worse (who said it handles better ), and do not look similar (if 4 wheels and 4 doors is similar then yes).

But none of that matters because the TSX is a blast to drive, unlike an Accord. It's not something you're going to find just by comparing specs and features, its an intangible. A quote from C&D in the link I posted: "the TSX is a symphony of painstakingly perfected details that add up to feline agility enhanced by a bevy of luxury features"

Alright, those are good reasons. I agree with them all. The closest Honda dealer here is a "no-haggle" dealership and they have the '06 Accord EX-V6s all marked at just under $24k, just under $26k with nav. I still think the TSX would be more expensive.

I've spent more hours behind the wheel of TSXs than any other car besides my own.

I just don't find it exciting at all. I really don't know why.

To mix things up a bit, I seriously almost bought a TSX as well. I had the specs picked out and everything, and I would have got it at dealer cost. I wanted that sweet bright blue color with the 6 speed manual.

But in the end, I wasn't feeling it. I really liked the TL, but at $33k it was a little high.

Sorry to go OT on this wonderfully enlightening thread, but I have to say, JeffS, that this is the single most awesome quote I have ever read on a message board anywhere ever. It is now my personal mantra, and I have you to thank! People ask me that question all of the time, little did I know the simple answer was right in front of me.
