The irony to this whole thing, is that if that golf ball had hit a PERSON in the head instead of the car, and killed that person, the entire situation would be different, both for the golf course and the golfer too.

So lame. Even though "two wrongs don't make a right", (and I don't advocate vigilante violence), it's perfectly understandable to want to hit golfballs at the cars of both the golfer who did this AND the course manager who didn't plan enough for wayward golfers.

Ouch!

Although I have to admit I was half-expecting to see one of these:

Sew them in small claims court! You'll win. Just as those big 18 wheelers are liable for kicking up rocks.

If you know the golfers names in that foursome you can take them to small claims court as no matter what the course does, as a golfer, you are liable if you hit something with your ball.

Proving who it was might be another story but telling them you will take them to small claims court might make them change their tune. Also, as mentioend, if you know their names, turn them over to your insurance co. Maybe a letter from them will help as well.

Any claim against your own insurance for windshield damage will be under the comprehensive coverage of your policy, which probaly covers only acts of nature (a tree falls on your windshield) or a road condition (ie- road stones). The other thing covered by comprehensive is a hit-and-run accident. So, here are a couple of choices:

1. Tell the adjuster it was a round white road stone
2. A bird flew over your windshield with a golf ball in its beak and dropped it on your car.
3. The golfers heard the crack and ran off before you could identify them.
4. You could consider some sort of discrimination suit based on size. Take the jury to the parking lot during the trial and show them your adorable little mini (with the huge crater in its face) parked among the golfers' SUV's and Lexuses (Lexi?). It's obviously a class based crime.
5. Lets have an autocross on the golf course. NAM to the rescue! I'll for sure show up. Hope they don't have JCW golfcarts.

If you can't get the insurance company to pay up under the glass coverage, then unless you have an unusally small deductible, you'll probably be mostly or totally out of pocket. Lotsaluck.
