Have you wondered how many MINIs are for sale in the US? I recently came across this site that searches all online auto sites and compiles the ads. It is pretty neat as they do a graph showing price related to mileage.

So according to their compilation here are the numbers of (previously owned) MINIs for sale online in the US.

Having some experience with this, I can assure you that a number of these are actually new cars sitting on dealer's lots - especially the '05s and maybe (believe it or not) a few of the 04s that are likely to be service loaners. It's just a matter of how and where they are "advertising" their inventory. This obviously inflates the numbers significantly. Of course the pre-owned units on their lots could be legitimately counted - but the importance of the count is diminished (depending on what you are trying to infer from the statistic) whether it was traded in for another MINI.

However, it is quite an interesting statistic to consider. I'm just not sure how to get a more accurate number.

 

I myself was pretty amazed at how many MINIs were for sale during the time I was looking for a used MINI. That being said, the used prices were so close to new, that I ordered and bought a new MIni.

I guess that they do sell because the prices are not falling on them. Makes me very happy owning a car that the value of it will take a long time to diminish.

 

I purchased my mini off ebay. There were 36 S's and another 60 regular at the time. There was one in the newspaper that sold as soon as the add came out and 2 used and 11 new at Mini of Nashville. That's not a lot of cars when you are looking for the "right" one.

 

Looks like I should have no problem getting more than the $19,000 I paid two years ago for my new 03 MC which currently has only 5,600 miles. It's even "resale red" with premium pack and 16" 5-spokes. Think I'll keep it though.

Sometimes I'm tempted to sell and get a new MCS.
