Hi All-
Ive got a quick Question about the MINI's AC- I was reading the MPG post and was noticing that people were saying they kept getting worse MPG with the AC on.

I was under the impression that the MINI had an electic-AC unit, as it is with the power steering-is that still correct?? I mean if it is electric, does it take that much of a toll on the electrical system if it is on?? I am just wondering what the facts are or everyones input on this..

Maybe I have just been under the wrong impression for a while or maybe someone gave me false info a while back- No a major issue, just wondering-Thanks

We definitely get worse gas mileage with the a/c on. Not aware it is a electric design. afaik, its compressor driven like all others. Maybe I better go look

 

Standard compressor. And MPG (and power!) do suck with the AC on.
Unfortunately I have to use the AC 10 months of the year.

 

I notice that with the a/c on, I slow down way faster, when I get off the throttle.I just use more throttle to overcome the effect to get going.
