After living the "Yuppie" life in the '80's - trips to Europe, I drove a new Mercedes, my wife a new Jag, huge house payment, blah, blah, blah, we had a medical emergency with one of our kids that put my at home with no income. Everything crashed. we even had to rent out our own home because we couldn't afford to live in it....
Anyway, after that all turned around, we made a pact to never get in debt again, and now, 18 years later, we only have our house payment and nothing else. The difference in the quality of life is unreal, the money you can sock away is great! I recommend it highly......
My '07 MINI was purchsed with cash(around 250 Benjamins if I recall correctly). My other cars are old and paid for.Stock sales are paying for the '09 that's arriving around the 15th.
We bought our 2005 Mini Cooper (special order) in August 2005 using the Mini Select plan with a 30 month term until the balloon payment was due. We decided to refinance with our credit union in April of 2007 to a 36 month fixed rate loan, but we paid extra and had it paid off in March 2008.
Of the five cars in my sig, the Mini, Miata, and Bullitt are all paid for, the Subaru should be paid off in two or three months, and we plan to have the Mustang GT paid off by the end of the year.
Paid in full the day I got her, I do that with every single one of my vehicles though. If I have to finance, I'd rather no buy it until such a point that I can pay it in full.

Agreed. At our house no money = no car. We pay for them all in full.
We finance 2 of the MINIs and we bought 2 of the MINIs outright. Quentin and Shawn were bought outright, they're more of a luxury (as we'd never had 2 cars before).
