but you shouldn't have to force them to do anything. you paid for new and you should get new. vinyl is pretty tough stuff. I doubt your fingernail could have torn that. As for the paint, I hope it's just minor enough and that it doesn't peel/flake/spread.

I'm sure MINIUSA and the dealership would rather have you as a satisfied customer so you can spread the word to your friends and help increase other MINI sales.

If the scratches are noticeable everyone will always be asking you about them rather than admiring all the other cool things about your MINI. You'll always be a walking advertisement telling all your friends that XYZ MINI dealership foo'd up your brand new car.

Remember, good news travels fast, but bad news travels 10x faster. The dealership wants your (repeat) business as well as that of your acquaintances

You seem like a nice guy, which unfortunately can sometimes be a problem. The dealer won't respond to future problems any differently whether or not you, "force the issue" to get them to fix things.

Many dealers have an attitude of "what can we do today to not fix your problem." This may not be true of your dealer, but, be nice while insisting they do what should be done. From your post I don't believe you would ask them to do anything unreasonable.

Don't let wanting them to like you prevent you from making them do the right thing.

They will like you anyway, as long as they believe they may get more money from you at some point.

I have the "grumpy old man" advantage to getting things done......it works great!

I brought a friend with me - just because of the drive, and he'd been wanting to drive in it - and he was "firm but gentle" with my MA. At least I talked to the general manager. Her manager was out for the day. It was after 5:00, so he might have been gone.

I got up this morning, breathed fresh air, and drove off! Filled my tank with gas at 2.99 , 92 octane, 13.4 gallons.

After resetting my OBC, I'm getting 34.9 MPG .
