Does anyone know if I can convert a BMW or AUDI/VW switchblade key to work with my MINI? I've found that the MINI key is big and bulky.

This is a link to an item on ebay. From owning a Passat I know that the actual 'key' part is removable. It's just a matter of whether the controls can be programmed to operate MINI functions. It seems like this would be most possible with a BMW key/alarm controller. It's worth asking at the parts department if they can pull it off.

I would use the spare key I have or have another made and placed into a switchblade box like the one on ebay.

This sounds like a great idea. Has anyone run it past their dealer or MINIUSA? When you consider the size of a key and the clicker for remote access, the MINI key is not much larger. However, when it's all in 1 place, it seems bulkier.
