Six weeks ago I knew so little about cars, and didn't care. They were tools to get me from A to B. And really, pretty much all the autos out there are still that way to me, but for some reason, I just LOVE MINIs.

In the past six weeks I've learned more about cars than I have in my entire life. I've spent 200 bucks on top of the line care products to maintain and make my MINI look it's best. I washed it for the first time last night, and that was the first time I've hand-washed a car in about five years. I could go on and on like this.

MINI really is a lifestyle change, and one for the better.
That was me too EXACTLY, a few months ago!

Think about all the people that WONT find this site. The dealership won't constantly tell them to drop the "me too syndrome." Gag. Atleast, that's what i've been told i have when i say "i know alot of people with this supposed problem, and they were able to get it fixed at THEIR dealer!" Sometimes knowing too much info doesn't get you anywhere.
When I go to the dealer, they send me out for a test drive in the newest thing on the lot.

Guess I ask to many hard questions But I know what to ask because of what I read here on NAM

Thank god there are no hills here. But then again, all light cars seem to suffer from this.

On that note, the people above all state with SNOW TIRES. So make sure you budget that (which I never had to do with my Audi A4 and previous cars).

Also I have been told that the colder it is the harder the rubber gets on the tires. It's cold here in Chicago. This could have an effect here at under 10 degrees.
Well to be honest it does suck in a foot of fresh snow, but short of a 4x4, most cars do.

Under 10F, try - 40F.
Pretty much everything is hard (Ok, start the jokes)
I drove my MINI the first winter with the all-seasons. It was ok, but with snow tires, it can pull through 6-8 inches of snow, just turn off the ASC+T, or DSC, so the drive wheels can dig down to get grip, and off you go.

So much fun plowing down a back road, with snow flying over the bonnet

Sorry no pics of snow flying over the bonnet, usually kind of busy then

That makes two of us. We share our experiences, good or bad. I think it is your salespersons job to convince you, and looks like he has not done a good job so far

Minis are great cars, they have always been and will always be. Just drive one, if you like it buy one, if not move on to your other options. Every car is going to have problems, major, minor, you should not relate our threads to "All Minis have problems", I have an 05 with 10K, no problems at all, and I drive the s... out of it everyday

Good Luck...

Ok. But how about a CONVERTIBLE in the snow. I'm going to find out soon enough - I just ordered one and live in Syracuse NY, where we get a LOT of snow. But I plan on using my old toyota avalon for most of the winter (to protect the Cooper and make it last). But I expect I'll want to take the cooper out for a spin once in a while in winter. Just wondering what that will be like with a convertible in very cold weather. Anyone have experience?

My MC is so warm in the winter, I drive with my window 1/4 of the way down at -30F, on the highway

I figure the soft tops should be fine:smile:

I saw this the other day in the Travel Stories section. Thought it might help.
