Of course. You think these things can actually move? They look more like oversized arcade machines .

Mind you that I do realize that Alpine is merely showing off their equipment while at the same time displaying their car modding prowess...BUT I have hated everything about that Mini since I first saw it a long while back. I am a firm believer in elegance when it comes to car stereo installs. All that over the top crap like in that (what used to be a nice looking) Mini is just plain stupid. Also one should be able to DRIVE the car in real world conditions. I mean how stupid is it to have a car that doesn't drive...show car or not

JL Audio's Mini blows this one away everyday of the week http://www.jlaudio.com/ (tab on the left menu)

Obviously you don't know much about the car as it does drive (and I mean not just in and out of the trailer either).... Alpines intentions are not to track the MINI as most of you do, it's a mobile marketing piece to show off their latest products.

Plus the X5 they did was to show off their F1 status line of products. The car was built with sound quality in mind and looks second. it's a beautiful car in person. They had a TV episode on Rides about the build-up for that car.

I share your opinion, but not to that extreme. Thank you for reminding the JL Mini, I didn't remember who did it. The Alpine MINI is not able for driving just for the safety issues.

Obviously you did not read the very FIRST statement I made in my post. And there is no way you are going to convince me that the car is street legal
drivable.

When you want to drive it on the streets, but just if you like to be on the law's side . The Alpine MINI doesn't have seatbelts or airbags, that's the reason it's not street legal.

I was just wondering if there is a direct correlation when doing these kind of mods. Does, say, $5,000 spent on these mods equal a $5,000 reduction in the value af the car?

I believe a 1920 Ford Model T doesn't have seatbelts or airbags and can be drivin on the streets today and it's perfectly legal.

That's true, but we don't see them in the streets today, except in classic events or such. I was talking about newer cars . Alpine staff can drive the MINI if they wanted to, but will be illegal, and they say it, not me.

Sorry to bump this thread but feel obligated for the ages. Here's some of my photos of the Alpine Mini from way back in 2004 when it came though Dallas. All for show, folks, I'm sure it's gathering dust now in someone's private collection.
