Okay, nice to know that I'm not the only one with the digital clock issue. My clock steadily gains time, and has since I first got it. Between August to December, it gained almost 30 minutes. I reset the clock at Christmas, and since then, it has gained 9 minutes.

So, since I'm not a gear head, I've got to know.....if I am having trouble with the clock, should I be watching for trouble with the speedometer or odometer or just write it off as a MINI quirk? Some of the other related threads mentioned issues with those digital readouts as well as the clock, which is why I'm asking.

Other than the clock running fast, I haven't had any issues with my darling MINI. If a fast clock is my only problem, then, hey, I am sooo happy!

At least with the 2005+ models, you could always switch the display to the trip odometer so you don't have to look at the darn thing.

I drove my cousin's 2003 Honda S2000 from Maryland to NY and the clock almost drove me bananas. The clock is displayed on the stereo and there's no way to shut it off. Change a preset or tune to another frequency and the display automatically reverts back to the clock . Not good when you're traveling long distances and you have to scan for stations often. But Honda moved the clock next to the odometer on the instrument display for 2005.

I can't believe I've not seen this post before. BOTH of our 05s have fast clocks. Mine's 15 min. fast. It drives me crazy. Am I speeding to the extent that Einstein's coming into play here? Ya know, how time slows with excessive speed. Oh but wait, my clock is too fast, not slow. : )

Einstein was right

Mine runs slow:
As my MCS approaches the speed of light, time dilation makes my local clock run slower relative to clocks of those driving other, slower cars.

Mine runs 15 min. fast every two months, I got tired of reseting it so I just switched to the trip, which I use more than the fuel guage anyway. And my speedo, both digital and analog above 15MPH always have me at 2miles over the actual (confirmed this with multiple GPS units, over several long trips). I've read that this is to comply with EU regs but I'm not in the EU so let my speedo work!

My wife's '05 consistently gained 7-8 minutes every 3-4 weeks. Last time I drove it, it seemed to be better (wonder if MINI tweaked something the last time it was in for service). I will have to check it again when next I drive it. Just a minor annoyance that something so simple could be so wrong.

I don't think that means what he thinks that means... What he's saying is that as long as the two are within 10% of each other they say that it's within "spec". If the gauge actually calibrated itself to fix a different tire/wheel combo this would be a "feature".

Someone mentioned that there are strict rules about under-reporting speed in Germany (and other places) so they set the gauge to read high so that they are not in violation unless you really change your wheel size (which would be your fault not theirs).

my 06's been running fast too. took it in for service and was told that they'd have to order an entire new guage assembly as there aren't any on hand in the country.
