Dirt in engine compartment.. any fix?

I already aware about this issue from the first time I pop up the hood. There is a small gap between the wheel liner and the bonnet that allow dirt/mud/snow slip in. Actually that gap is right above the front wheel, so no wonder dirt will build up every time when I drive it. I just wonder anyone feel my pain. I have a thought about putting a rubber strip at the edge of the wheel liner and that will seal the gap between. The problem is, any -ve effect? where can I get a rubber strip like that.

You could try weather stripping that you'de use for windows on a house. Should be about the right size and pretty cheap too.
