I got a MINI key chain. About the tow hook, that comes STD with the MC tire change kit. For the MCS, shouldn't that also be STD as it would be needed if you need to be towed? How can that be an "extra" gift when it is a necessity?

OK, the kit is cool now!

Note to self...when kaelaria seems to be a little grumpy...send a pen or a mug.

kaelaria, I actually got 2 welcome kits. They were both pretty much as you described though. No shirts. I did get a mug seperately though.

glad to hear it takes months!

I've had my MINI for 3 months and haven't gotten a welcome kit. I wondered if they were still doing giving them out!

Kaelaria, for your next MINI purchase, make the 3 hour drive east to Lauderdale MINI. Here is a rundown of the "freebies" I have gotten on each of my 3 MINI purchases from them:

2002 MC CVT (Delivered 9/7/2002): 2 free MINI shirts, 2 packs of mints, designer MINI sunglasses, free cloth floor mats.

2004 MCS (Delivered 10/3/2003): Designer MINI sunglasses, 1/18 MINI Cooper S Dark silver/black top diecast model (A $65 value), free cloth floor mats, Union Jack roof flag fully installed and AUX input jack fully installed as well. 2 packs of Mints

2005 MCS (Delivered 3/20/2005): MINI Chronograph wrist watch (a $130 value), FREE set of MCS rubber floor mats, free set of MINI cloth floor mats, FREE Union Jack Roof flag installed and FREE MINI iPod adaptor fully installed. Oh and did I say more mints?

MINIUSA has sent me 3 new owner kits and 2 MINI mugs so far over the last 3 years and I am expecting my 4th welcome kit in the weeks to come.

I have received so many freebies from my dealer and MINIUSA I have lost count.

Though, around here, that's a lot of pens and mugs!

That's a very good suggestion, and certainly worth considering, especially with the other problems I'm having with Ferman.

I have lost my floating MINI pen <pout>. I have 2 ideas what has become of it: It's either hanging out with my AWOL cigarette lighter having a good laugh at my expense, or my S.O. aka the "Notorious Pen Absconder" has appropriated it secretly. BTW my kids have enjoyed the bingo cards on a couple of longer trips. I can still kick their butts at it though.

Me, too. If you call/email MINI I know you can get the "unofficial owners manual" which includes the toggle stickers, but I don't know about the welcome kit. Give 'em a jingle at 1 866 ASKMINI, and if they say yes, let me know so I can get one too! I got the journal and (disintegrating) bingo cards, but no pen. If you don't watch out, I'm gonna get grumpy like Kaelaria.

Answering my own supposition
Is she telling me I'm not original??!

HI Eric,

Thanks for writing MINI. We hope that your 2004 MINI Cooper S is
serving you well, that is a great model vehicle.

Unfortunately, only original owners of MINI vehicles receive welcome
kits. I am sorry that we cannot send one to you.

If there are further questions I can assist with, please feel free to
drop me an e-mail. I am happy to lend a hand.

LET’S MOTOR.

I guess I got lucky with my Mini. I got my welcome kit, mug, cup holder, hat, key chain, posters, and a lot of other cool promotional stuff from the dealer. Most of these items are still packaged or sealed in document protectors for the Mini collection I have. Heck ya never know when this type of stuff will have collectable value.

I actually liked the welcome kit. Most manufacturers send you nothing at all. I even got another mailing the other day. It was a cutout with "Mini Parking Only" that you use to spraypaint a spot in your garage or the wall. These little things will be collector items in the future.

I had a Ford Thunderbird kit (02-04), a press package similar to this but much larger. Sold it for $375 on ebay last year. These things are great accessories for people that love their Minis.

It may seem cheesy now, but you'll wish you'd kept it in 5 years.

I got all the MINI USA gifts and ...

My dealer was quite generous ...

Next bag next to the Welcome Basket contained:
  • 2 caps
  • 2 polo shirts
  • 2 t-shirts
  • 2 key chains
I also got one of the "Odomenter" t-shirts the dealers received for the 2002 launch and an "Original Motorer" sticker ...

Well it's been a month and 1/2 for me and I haven't gotten anything either. I didn't even know there was a "Welcome Kit" . Note to self... call Miniusa and request a welcome kit!
